Yesterday, we were honored to join Youth Services and Parent and Guardian Empowerment (PAGE) for their inaugural open house! We are so inspired by the work our community is doing for Fayette County's children. PAGE's space provides individual therapy rooms, workshop areas, and resources for children who may need school supplies or other support. Congratulations to Youth Services and PAGE!

As Fayette County prepares to welcome students back to the classroom, there is a new law in effect that ensures the safety of our students and buses.

Kentucky House Bill 7(1) requires all drivers on either side of a four-lane highway to stop for both school and church buses.

The safety of Fayette County's children is of paramount importance, and we are looking forward to continuing to partner with our schools to make it a great year!

Today, we're taking you behind the scenes with two of our prosecutors!

From early morning docket reviews to the fast-paced energy of traffic court, no two days are exactly alike. However, our mission to continue to serve Fayette County's residents with justice and respect remains the same.

In the morning, prosecutors spend time in the office, fully immersed in case prep: reviewing files, navigating complex legal research, and answering calls to talk with Fayette County citizens.

By the afternoon, the environment has shifted -- our prosecutors head to the courthouse and retrieve dockets, and our team sets to work. Each docket is split down the middle of the alphabet, and each attorney manages half the courtroom. It's a busy space, with bailiffs, an interpreter, and citizens lining up, but it's also rarely what people expect. Most citations are simply for missing documentation (think: insurance, registration, driver's license). Our prosecutors work to solve these issues on the spot -- often, if a citizen can produce the documentation, the charge is dropped, or a continuance is granted. Our goal is to help!

And, while it may not look like your favorite legal drama, our attorneys are doing real work to help Fayette County residents! By focusing on practical solutions, we're keeping our community safe and road-compliant.

My 1st National Black Prosecutors Association Conference & Job Fair is in the books!!! I had a wonderful time meeting new people and connecting with other elected prosecutors. Informative and INTERESTING sessions from The Pulse Nightclub prosecutor, human trafficking survivor, to the importantance of performace data for prosecutor offices. I was also happy to see a familiar face in our criminal diversion partner, Advent *fs. I've returned renewed and with LOTS of ideas!
