Today is not just about a long weekend or cookouts.

Memorial Day is about remembering the American heroes who laid down their lives so future generations could live free. Every right we enjoy — free speech, the right to vote, the right to worship, the right to stand up against government overreach — was secured by the sacrifice of courageous men and women in uniform.

These heroes fought and died defending the freedoms that make this nation exceptional — freedoms that must never be ignored, weakened, or trampled by those in positions of power.

We honor them best not only with words, but by protecting those freedoms here at home and ensuring government remains accountable to the people.

Their legacy deserves leaders willing to stand firmly for liberty, transparency, constitutional rights, and the values that made this country strong.

Today, let us honor the fallen, pray for their families, fly our flags proudly, and remember that liberty carries both a cost and a responsibility.

Freedom is never free.

My focus for Henderson County is simple:

Take care of what we already have.
Protect taxpayer investments.
And make government operate smarter — not bigger.

Infrastructure and asset maintenance should always come before politics, ribbon cuttings, and unnecessary spending.

Our roads, bridges, buildings, equipment, emergency services, and public assets represent millions upon millions of taxpayer dollars. Deferred maintenance and poor planning only make those costs more expensive in the future.

As County Mayor, I will focus on:
• Reprioritizing spending toward core infrastructure and essential services
• Negotiating better contracts and purchasing agreements
• Drafting tighter, clearer contracts that protect taxpayers
• Aggressively pursuing grants and outside funding opportunities
• Increasing accountability and oversight of projects and expenditures
• Making county government more efficient and results-driven

I’ve heard the current administration repeatedly say that many county contracts are “a mess” or difficult to decipher. Frankly, that should never be acceptable in government.

Contracts involving taxpayer money should be clear, organized, enforceable, transparent, and professionally drafted from the beginning — not confusing after the fact.

Good leadership is proactive, not reactive.

The taxpayers deserve leaders who understand budgeting, contracts, risk management, negotiation, asset preservation, and long-term planning.

That’s how you stretch taxpayer dollars further.
That’s how you improve infrastructure without constantly raising taxes.
And that’s how you leave Henderson County stronger for the next generation.

Good conversations, good people, and a great day representing Henderson County.

The day started on the south end of the county at the Scotts Hill Senior Center, where I enjoyed a wonderful home-cooked breakfast and the opportunity to visit with so many fine folks.

From there, I traveled to the Strawberry Festival and Governor’s Luncheon, where I had the opportunity to meet Governor Lee, Senators, Congressmen, State Representatives, state agency leaders, and business leaders from across West Tennessee. Attending these events that include local, state, and federal officials, opens doors of opportunity.

Later that day, I had the privilege of taking a one-on-one tour of Tyson’s processing facility with one of their plant managers, gaining a firsthand look at their operations, workforce, and the important role they play as one of our region’s major employers and poultry suppliers.

I’m thankful for every opportunity to listen, learn, and build relationships that help keep Henderson County connected, represented, and moving forward. Strong relationships matter, and I will continue working to ensure Henderson County has a voice not only here at home, but also in Nashville and Washington, D.C.

Proud to represent and advocate for our community.

One of the greatest blessings in life is being able to spend time with your children in the outdoors—enjoying the beauty of this land and the creatures the good Lord blessed us with.

These moments mean more than a harvest. They are about teaching our children to appreciate the outdoors, respect God’s creation, and understand where real food comes from. They are about passing down faith, gratitude, responsibility, and a love for the freedoms we too often take for granted.

The freedom to pursue happiness.
The freedom to enjoy your land—both private property and public lands.
The freedom to provide clean, fresh, healthy, organic food for your family.
The freedom to live with gratitude for the blessings God has given us.

The outdoors teaches lessons that last a lifetime—patience, humility, discipline, thankfulness, and respect for life. Those are the values I believe in, and those are the values I will fight to protect.

May we never lose sight of how blessed we are to live in a place where faith, family, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness still matter.

The results are in: I've come up short in the race for Alderman Position 6.

Congratulations to Mr. Chip Clark and to all the successful candidates who earned the voter's trust. And to everyone who ran but didn't win - your courage and contribution matter. It's not an easy arena to step into.

To those who supported me: thank you. Every conversation, vote, and word of encouragement meant the world. I truly appreciate each and every one of you that I met along the way.

This isn't the end. I'll be around, still watching, still advocating for and serving the people of our community.

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.
