Our thoughts are with the people of Nepal following the landslide that caused devastating floods on 26 August.

Zonta International has been in contact with Zonta leaders and members in Nepal, and we are grateful to report that all Zontians are safe.

We appreciate the compassion and desire of Zontians to support and help. As the situation unfolds, we encourage patience as the clubs assess how to best address the needs of those within their communities.

As the impacts of this disaster continue, we remain committed to advocating for climate justice and gender-responsive climate action that ensures women and girls are not left further behind.

Rest in Aloha Dimples! You will be remembered as our Zonta Honorary Member.

Remembering Zonta friendships with Dimples Kano and Marge Akana.

Marge Akana recalls Dimples the first person she met in 1960. At the time, Dimples worked at the Lihue Plantation office. In the 1970’s, Marge received her real estate license with Prosser Realty.

Their paths crossed again when Marge became a Zontian in 1986 and worked with Marge’s husband at their insurance agency. Dimples was an active Zontian since 1972 and continued in real estate until her retirement. She held various positions, attended conventions with Betty Bell, and was also very active in other organizations.

Marge and Dimples have remained good friends through the years.
