🔋 Got old rechargeable batteries? Land Phil wants you to know they don't belong in the trash or recycling.

Learn how to safely get rid of lithium-ion batteries in Lincoln.

What's the deal with discarding rechargeable batteries? 🪫

These aren't your typical AA or AAA batteries. When we say rechargeable batteries, we mean lithium-ion batteries often found in tools, toys, and tech.

Lithium-ion batteries cannot go in the trash or recycling. Instead, they need to be properly recovered to help keep potentially hazardous and flammable materials out of the waste stream while allowing valuable materials to be safely recovered and reused.

When you're done with your rechargeable batteries, take them to HazToGo, Lincoln's Hazardous Waste Center, for safe and proper recovery.

Even though we don’t recommend car surfing, this red fox was spotted taking a ride on one of our electric vehicles at the Theresa Street Water Resource Recovery Facility. 🦊

Maybe it was just curious about what happens at the facility. 👀

Our two water resource recovery facilities process about 25 million gallons of wastewater each day, enough to fill Holmes Lake in about three and a half days!

Did you know? Residents can legally drain pool water into a storm drain if it’s free of pollutants. When draining, keep water within natural drainage areas and away from structures. Let it flow over grass or vegetation before reaching the street. 🏊

Roundabouts and RCUTs are becoming more common across Nebraska as transportation agencies look for ways to improve safety and traffic flow.

Two of our LTU teammates, Roberto and David, recently shared their expertise with Nebraska Public Media about how these intersection designs work and what drivers should know.

Nebraska transportation officials are betting on unconventional intersections to cut down on the state’s most severe crashes. The data, they say, backs them up. But changing how Nebraskans drive hasn't been simple, cheap or universally popular.
