Thursday June 18th at the Star-Lite Drive in. What Happens at a Relay Event

There are many moments that create the Relay experience.

Specific details vary by event. But the key moments that all events share in common are listed below:

Survivors Lap
Relay starts with a Survivors Lap – an inspirational time when survivors are invited to circle the track together and help everyone celebrate the victories we’ve achieved over cancer. We also recognize and celebrate caregivers at Relay For Life. These individuals give their time, lo

ve, and support to friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers who face cancer. Luminaria Ceremony
After dark, we honor people who have been touched by cancer and remember loved ones lost to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony. Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand, each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer, and participants often walk a lap in silence. Fight Back Ceremony
Last, there is a Fight Back Ceremony, where we make a personal commitment to save lives by taking up the fight against cancer. That personal commitment may be to do something as simple as getting a screening test, quitting smoking, or talking to elected officials about cancer. By taking action, people are personally taking steps to save lives and fight back against a disease that takes too much.

A HUGE thank you to the Meeker County Community! Without you we could not have made Relay For Life 2018 a Success! The committee was a little nervous about making the change to Central Park but from what we’ve heard from you, it was a good change. The park looked so beautiful when it was dark and all the bags were lite.
Many thanks to the Christian Church for opening their doors and allowing us to use their facility for the Silent auction on other things. You welcomed us with open arms! And to the City Council for saying yes to our idea of holding the event in the Central Park and the City Park and Recreation department for bringing in all the extra tables for us.
This event would not be possible without the support for our local Businesses, the great and dedicated Teams, and the Relay For life Committee. You all make this event happen! THANK YOU!
Now come out on Thursday June 28th to Central Park and support Relay For Life of Meeker County as we host Pie in Park that evening. We will be serving Pies for the Cold Spring bakery!!!

We have started planning our 2018 Relay For Life event! New location this year!!! We will hold our event in Central Park, Friday June 22nd. Hope to see you there.

Thank you to the Relay For Life Committee and to everyone who came out and supported us last night for Pie in the Park! The Terry Nelson band was awesome and we had a great time!

Sadly we said good bye to two great ladies this week who lost their battles with cancer. Rest in peace Ardella Solbrack, and Mary Nagel. Our sympathies to the their families.
