Congressman Lloyd Smucker it's time for another dose of Dan Reynolds -
Hello, Congressman Smucker!
There are two intertwined aspects as midterms approach. First, public support for President Trump and his policies continues to decline to levels rarely seen in modern America. Second, the lies and crackpot statements uttered by Trump and his supporters are becoming overwhelmingly obvious. Here are a few from the past month.
Trump: I took three cognitive tests. Which one is the squirrel?
Trump: I could with one swipe of the pen say, Let's have no unemployment, and I'll hire a million people or two million people and we'll have absolutely no unemployment.
Trump: Democrats are dishonest, treasonous, and waging war against this country. Obama tried to overthrow the government in 2016.
Trump: I don’t need Congressional approval for Iran because it's never been sought before. Nobody has ever asked for it before.
Trump: I think China may be helping Iran, but I don't think much. They could help a lot more. I'm not overly disappointed.
Trump: We've increased the tariffs on all cars and trucks coming into the United States by 25%. I love those tariffs.
Trump: I'd say, 500, 600%. But we also say sometimes 50%, 60%. Different kinds of calculation. There are two ways of calculating it.
Kennedy: President Trump has a different way of calculating percentages. If you have a $600 drug and you reduce it to $10, that's a 600% reduction.
Hegseth: Europe needs the Strait of Hormuz much more than we do. This is much more their fight than ours.
Hegseth: In 2024, Joe Biden deployed troops to polling locations in 15 states.
Hegseth: Under Barack Obama, 197 general officers were removed
Sen. Marshall: Trump’s war against Iran is just like Hiroshima and D-Day.
Rep. Alford: Comey knows when you post 8647, that is tantamount to saying kill the president.
Navy Secretary Cao: Monterey CA is a very dark place now, a lot of witchcraft. We can’t let that happen to Virginia.
Blanche: Every time you walk into a restaurant you have to show ID.
Rep. Scalise: Remember that 2 years ago, we were paying almost $6 a gallon. Right now it's in the $3s.
Sen. Scott: Gas prices continue to come down.
The connection between Trump’s escalating nonsense and his unpopularity is clear. Your silence while these lies are repeated by your fellow Republicans is disheartening. Your constituents deserve better.
There is no expiration date on this statement from Sen. Graham in 2016: ““If we nominate Trump, we will get destroyed and we will deserve it.”
Thanks,
Dan Reynolds
