Higher Ground

Higher Ground is a community organization with the sole purpose of helping people find help for themselves and their families. We utilize a personalized network of local Human Service professionals to hook up people in need.

With an estimated 15,000 people in our local area who need help with their drug and/or alcohol use, it is obvious that this area needs more centers to reach out to those that are hurting. For the most part, addicts have logistic problems, financial problems, and pride problems when it comes to finding or getting to help. We seek to put assistance where the addict is, populated areas where those who need help can walk into and find an atmosphere of love, acceptance and understanding. We seek to open one coffeehouse initially and several in the long term, places that are warm and inviting, and offer a pleasant social atmosphere. Higher Ground is not an end in and of itself, but a starting point for those who are looking to get out of the grasp of addiction. We will point people to where they can have their basic needs met for food, shelter, safety and security. We will also implement in-house programs to accommodate those who are recovered and offer a place to socialize with others and have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships. We will offer help and resources to facilitate job searches, resume' building and more. Higher Ground will demonstrate, as it's priority, the highest priority of personal serving; offering opportunities for service to others, putting someone else’s needs first.
