Yesterday's speaker at the Kiwanis Club of Columbine was Annie Thompson, Director of Individual Philanthropy for Boys & Girls Club Metro Denver. Annie spoke specifically about the club in Jefferson county at Lasley Elementary School. This Club recently moved to Lasley due to the closure of the previous host school. Success stories and statistics about the Lasley Club was presented with many good questions asked by our members. Our Club presented a check in support of the Club at Lasley. Yesterday the Kiwanis Club of Columbine held our Officers and Board Member installation for the 2023-2024 admin year. RMD Div 5 Lt Gov Kristy Tolan was in attendance to perform the installations. Congrats to President Will Knoblauch who will lead our club forward in the coming year.

Sep 20,2023- At today's meeting Will Knoblauch received the Pat Rust Outstanding Club Secretary Award for the 2021-2022 admin year. Everyone who has been a past Secretary can relate that it is one of the most important offices in the Club. As an added bonus, RMD Governor Dawn Ignatius updated the Club about what is happening in the District.

August 2,2023 - The Kiwanis Club of Columbine had the pleasure of inducting Geri Reinhart into the Kiwanis Club of Columbine as our 70th member. Pictured from left is Ken Sweet Membership Chair and sponsor, Geri, and President Tom Powis. Geri has been active in our club, working with Sheridan Food Bank and several other projects. Many of you have already met her, if not please introduce yourself. Her late husband was a Kiwanian and she knows a lot about Kiwanis.

May 24,2023 - Today our guest speaker was Bryan Martin who is the Executive Director of the Outdoor Lab Foundation. Their mission is to inspire community support for, and advocate on behalf of, Jeffco Schools Outdoor Lab Program. Most Jeffco residents have children, grandchildren, or maybe they themselves have participated in Outdoor Lab. Bryan updated us on their work to insure that this very important program continues to be a memorable experience for every sixth grader. On the left is Bryan along with Kiwanis Club of Columbine President Tom Powis.

2023 Colfax Marathon - Today the Kiwanis Club of Columbine was at their usual place on West Colfax near Casa Bonita handing out water and Gatorade to thousands of Marathon runners. Perfect weather along with a record number of runners made for a very busy morning. Thanks to all that volunteered. Notice the Casa Bonita dome in the center top of the first pic. This year's race crew volunteer t-shirts were sponsored by Casa Bonita.

This year the Kiwanis Club of Columbine awarded five $1000 Key Club Service Awards. Our Club supports Key Clubs at Chatfield, Dakota Ridge, Columbine, Littleton, and Heritage High Schools. One Key Clubber from each of the High Schools was selected through an application process that included listing their Key Club and community service as well as other High School activities. Each applicant was also asked to submit an essay and two letters of recommendation. Congratulations and wishes for continued success!

Columbine Hills Elementary School Carnival - This past Friday afternoon our Club volunteered at the fundraising Carnival held inside the school. There were games, face painting, costume contests, food, and a chili cookoff contest. Our volunteers helped with the games and the bake sale. John updated our Club on how they are moving forward from the drive-through food distribution that was necessary during the pandemic. 2023 IFCS Nibbles and Sips Gala – This past Saturday 15
members and guests of the Kiwanis Club of Columbine
attended the IFCS Nibbles and Sips Fundraising Gala held at
the Hyatt Regency in the Denver Tech Center. Our own Brian
Counterman and his Jazz Hands Foundation Band provided
the entertainment for the Gala.
During the live auction segment of the program, IFCS
presented a program showing how the need for their services
expanded significantly during the pandemic and confirmed
the need for our Club’s contributions made to this
organization. Attending were Brian and Sue Counterman,
Denny and Rachel Brehm, Rod and Karen Hunley, Mary
Rome, Tom Powis, Abe Baltazar, Ferris Forar, Ruthann
Moomy, Mike and Vickie Greunke, Susan Markley and Harry

Jan 25,2023 -Today's guest speaker was Major Mike Halverson from the Salvation Army. He updated our club on the Army's mission, their successes in the community, and the history of the Salvation Army. He also thanked our club for ringing the bell during the Christmas season as we collected $15,444.50. Thanks to the 40 members and 18 non-members (Key Clubbers, family, friends) who volunteered 240 hours ringing the bells at two different King Soopers stores over 9 days preceding Christmas.

PorchLight Family Justice Center (FJC) provides comprehensive legal, emotional and critical supportive services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, abuse of at-risk individuals, elder abuse, and human trafficking for Jefferson and Gilpin counties. The Kiwanis Club of Columbine recommitted our support for this organization by making a financial gift.

Oct 15,2022-On a cool and pleasant Saturday, the Kiwanis Club of Columbine fired up the grills for the Feeding Many Harvest Festival. We grilled hot dogs and burgers for a large crowd attending the Festival. This is the second year of the festival and the second year our club has helped out. Feeding Many is the 501c3 organization that operates and maintains the community orchard and gardens at W Marlowe and S Cole St. Thanks to Kiwanians Steve Jennison, Gene Clark, Mike Greunke, Ken Sweet, Tom McEwen, Scott Storey, Karen Hunley, and Rod Hunley for spending part of the Saturday volunteering.

Craig “Brad” Bradbury is retiring from Kiwanis - Craig been in Kiwanis since 1977, first in Monterey, CA and then joined the Kiwanis Club of Columbine in January 1980. He served as Treasurer for several years and was President for the 1983-1984 year. Craig is Lusche Fellow, a Hixson Fellow and contributes annually to our Foundation. He was instrumental in starting the Ken Caryl Builders Club and was an advisor for the Columbine and Heritage High School Key Clubs for many years. Craig has volunteered for just about every service project and fundraiser that the Club as has worked on over the years. His contributions will be greatly missed. To quote Craig, “I feel good about "improving the world one child and one community at a time"”. Please stay in touch with your friends at the Kiwanis Club of Columbine.
