This is Apollo. (Photo in comments) He got out of the yard last night and has a dark grey thunder shirt on, possibly the harness seen in this picture. We live in Meadow Valley off Toepperwein between Kitty Hawk and Gibbs Sprawl. He's very friendly. Please call me at 8303300329 if you find him or animal control if you see him. I'm out of town but will be in later today. Thanks.

Sweet Charlie was picked up as a stray and spent some time in our shelter in 2014. Once we realized he was deaf, we spent some time teaching him sign language. The Austin Boxer Rescue took Charlie in, fostered him and found him a forever home! He now lives a very happy life with his family and now goes by the name 'Oliver Von Wigglebutt'!! #HappyEndings! In today's "Dogumentary" we would like to introduce Abel. Abel is a Rottweiler mix with the sweetest personality. He was an owner surrender for reasons unknown. Abel comes to us with a story told by his ears. You may notice in his video that the fur on the tips of his ears is missing. According to our Vet, he suffered frost bite from being left out in the cold of winter. Abel is a very happy guy with a lot of energy and is looking for a family to love him.

Please, please take a second to like and share his story and if you are interested in learning how you might volunteer, foster or adopt, call us - 210.653.9140 ext. 228

These are just a few of the beautiful dogs that are at this time being cared for here at the Live Oak Animal Shelter. Each has a story. They have gone through getting lost, abandoned or worse. The one thing they do have in common is their excitement over a kind touch. We always need volunteers, fosters and of course anyone who can provide a loving home. Please give us a call to learn more - (210) 653-9140 ext. 228 (be sure to scroll through to see all pics!)

Today's "Dogumentary" features a beautiful Golden Retriever mix named Lenny Kravitz. When we found Lenny he was lost and very scared. When we approached him he bolted and jumped into a pool! Lenny panicked but thank goodness he had a hero. Live Oak Animal Control Officer, Derrick, without hesitation jumped into the pool and saved Lenny. Lenny has the sweetest personality. You can tell that he would make a very loyal companion and make an excellent new family member to any home.

We are excited to present our 1st "Dogumentary". This is CJ. CJ is a 4 month old Border Collie Mix. His story doesn't begin well. He was brought in to our shelter with a wire wrapped tightly around his snout. At first he was very scared and angry, but it didn't take long for him to warm up. Now he is a happy, energetic puppy, but he would love a home. CJ would make an amazing addition to any home. Please take a second to like and share his story and if you are interested in learning how you might foster or adopt, call us - 210.653.9140 ext. 228 Let's give CJ a Happy Ending!!!!

Hello! My parent’s cat got out of their house this morning. She is a calico and I have pictures of her on my timeline! Any tips or leads would be appreciated! Thank you!
are you open Wednesday, 9 December ?
I'd like to know if you allow blanket throws for your shelter dogs and cats. I would like to donate some.
Our puppy Jagger. 2 year olds White bulldog got out of our back fence in the copper field subdivision and into the greenbelt which backs up to the San Antonio River Authority yesterday. Please spread the word and be on look out for our baby. If you see him please contact me. We are worried sick about him.
Hello, I just wanted to reach and make everyone aware of something. I am a proud animal rescue advocate and have adopted several cats and dogs from both San Marcos and surrounding Animal Shelters. I am so very grateful for all that you and the incredible volunteers do to help out homeless and at risk animals. I know right now lot of Austin Area shelters are running adoption specials to make it more accessible which ROCKs! However, there is a safety issue for some of the kitties being allowed to go to anyone during October. Some shelters do not allow the adoption of black cats during the month of October and with very good reason: black cats often have superstition attached to their coat coloring and go unadopted for longer, but in October are adopted for the purpose of ritual use, sacrificical killing, or to be used social media props for the season then abandoned. This is a more serious issue in some areas than in others, but I never want to see ANY animal get hurt ever! Additionally, the policy in many areas (such as Salem, Massachusetts) around this month is to have an adoption application and occasionally a holding fee for black and predominantly black cats to be released on Nov. 2- after Dia Los Mu***os and All Saints Day. Watch your black and predominantly black cats (and dogs!!) closely during October or keep them inside- we've actually had a few- isolated but suspected occult related- cat abductions and killings. I dont understand how people can be so cruel. This is not to disparage anyone's religion or spread sensationalism, nor to cause upset / panic- just to spread the word to keep our black cats safe. While the occult and witchcraft is often used as the excuse, remember these are disturbed sadistic jerks looking for an excuse to harm something.
Good afternoon Live Oak Animal shelter, sharing some pictures of Noodles day this afternoon, she’s all healed up from her injuries; thank you for ALL you do for the animals. Mad respect.
