Excess a heat Watch-Access Cooling Zone at PD if needed.

An Excessive Heat Watch remains in effect for the San Joaquin Valley, Sierra Nevada foothills, Coastal Range, and Kern County mountains Thursday through Saturday. An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot weather is expected. Heat related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke are likely if precautions are not taken. Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and remain in an air-conditioned room. As always, never, ever leave a child or pet in an enclosed automobile.

Info regarding a virtual open house meeting I attended to advocate. Some info asked, project details, timelines, and milestones.

How can you advocate: SJRRC is seeking comments from agencies, stakeholders, and the public regarding the analysis and findings of the Draft EIR. Written comments will be accepted until 5:00 PM on Monday, June 7, 2021. Please submit public comments to support the Livingston station!!

The Draft Environment Impact Report indicates Livingston as the proposed stop vs Atwater however, the board has the final vote around November and did the same study on the Atwater stop alternate allowing the board to choose them if they so wished.

The Draft EIR provides a more detailed description of the Project, its potential environmental impacts, and its alternatives, and can be viewed online at https://acerail.com/merced-extension-eir.

Heads up if you are traveling south.

SPLIT TRAFFIC IS ACTIVE

If you've traveled southbound on State Route 99 between the City of Livingston - City Hall and the City of Merced - Home recently, you should have noticed the major change in traffic lanes.

As you approach the Atwater Boulevard off-ramp, the #1 lane diverts across the southbound center divide and continues through the northbound center divide. There is a concrete barrier to your right and temporary barriers (K-Rail) to your left.

If you intend to exit at Applegate Road or Atwater/Merced Expressway you will need to stay in the right lane (#2 lane). There is no access to exit to The City of Atwater from the left lane (#1 lane).

Remember, the maximum speed limit at this location is 55 miles per hour and trucks are required to stay in the right lane (#2 lane).

ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT
