During the Department’s weekly drill this past Tuesday evening, our volunteer firefighters successfully completed a vehicle extrication training exercise. This session provided an opportunity to practice essential rescue techniques and maintain proficiency in handling complex emergency scenarios.

Regular training exercises like these ensure our volunteers remain fully prepared to serve the community effectively.

One of the things we take great pride in as a department is giving back to our community. A big part of that commitment is making a difference in the lives of our youth.

Last night, the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department was proud to present three scholarships to graduating seniors from the Class of 2026. These included the Chief Charles W. Schilling Scholarship, the Chief Craig D. Dufford Scholarship, and a scholarship honoring the past and present members of the Livingston Fire Department.

These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated both a commitment to community service and outstanding academic achievement. We are honored to support these deserving seniors as they begin the next chapter of their lives.

As we kick off our annual fund drive this month, we encourage you to think about the opportunities your donations help create. In addition to supporting the services we provide to our residents, your generosity allows us to invest in the future of our community through programs such as these scholarships.

Congratulations to our scholarship recipients, and thank you to our community for your continued support of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department.

Over the weekend, Livingston firefighters attended a 3 day trench rescue course. The course gave first time rescuers a comprehensive overview of methods for stabilizing an active trench scenario, including shoring, back shoring, installation of struts and patient removal.

At their drill last night, members of the Livingston Fire Department reviewed pumping operations for new and seasoned operators. This comprehensive review included proper pumping procedures, pressure increase/loss, hose deployment, hydrant operations, etc. A review of our SCBA portable air bottle fill station system was also beneficial to members. Chief Mullin noted" Getting back to the basics once in a while is always beneficial".

Livingston responded into Belleville this afternoon to assist at a multi-alarm fire. The crew is currently operating on scene where several structures are involved. Multiple structures have been condemned and as of now, all crews are operating defensively. The fire is not yet under control.

At approximately 12:00 PM on April 27, 2026, members of the Livingston Fire Department responded to a reported of a vehicle fire near the residence at 18 Lafayette Dr., Livingston.
Upon arrival, Fire Chief Mullin (200) reported a fully involved 2015 GMC Acadia, vehicle was approximately 30 feet from the residence. The fire was extinguished without incident or injuries, and did not spread to the residence.
