Another week, another local Livonia business to support!

I’ve been meaning to stop by Sycamore Tree Bakery & Café for months now, but I’m usually over in that area later in the evening. Today we finally made it in, and wow, I have been missing out.

First, I have to say, a lot of the newer businesses opening in Livonia have done a great job creating cute, updated spaces that make you want to hang out. But Sycamore Tree might have the most welcoming layout, decor, and staff I’ve come across yet.

The theme inside is pure Michigan. They have signs for all of our state sports teams, a Faygo sign, a huge wooden Michigan art piece, cozy seating, and some of the cutest decor I’ve seen. The whole place just feels warm, local, and inviting.

I got to speak with one of the owners, Kenana, and I thanked her for opening here in Livonia. She told me that back in 2019, while she and her husband Fadi were visiting Livonia, she loved it so much that she told him if they ever moved here, she wanted it to be right here in Livonia.

Well, they made it happen, and I’m so glad they did.

Fadi and Kenana’s daughter was behind the register taking our order, which made the whole place feel even more like a family business you want to support.

I ordered an almond milk cold brew with sugar-free brown sugar cinnamon syrup, and my grandma ordered her classic: black coffee with one cream and one sugar. They fresh-brewed an entire pot just for her. Their coffee beans are freshly ground, which is always a great sign when you’re grabbing coffee somewhere.

The coffee was fantastic. Rich, fresh, and full of flavor. My grandma absolutely loved hers too.

Of course, we had to get some treats. Maddie and Brynn each picked out a macaron, and they ate them before I could even blink. I tried the Dubai Chocolate Croissant, which I guess is one of their most popular items. I’m not usually a big croissant guy, but this thing was calling my name from the case. I had to try it, and it was seriously good. Better than any actual Dubai chocolate bar I’ve tried.

They also have muffins, cannolis, eclairs, croissants, cookies, and more. I also grabbed two dark chocolate-dipped pistachio-stuffed dates to try for dessert after the gym tonight.

I really loved being here and talking with Kenana. The welcoming atmosphere, beautiful decor, great coffee, and family feel are exactly the kind of things I love seeing in our city.

Livonia is lucky to have Sycamore Tree Bakery & Café. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please give them a try.

They’re located at 17150 Farmington Road, in the shopping complex at 6 Mile and Farmington, between Baskin-Robbins and the Secretary of State.

And good news for the kids: they said they eventually plan to have boba tea, which my girls were very excited about.

This is so cute!

I’d love to have something like this at our local Livonia Parks. Maybe a scavenger hunt where each park has an art piece that you take a selfie with while holding your basket of garbage. Post on social media and you get an entry for a prize for every park that you do!

This is exactly why small local businesses are the best.

I posted about Bagel & Co the other day because I absolutely loved their bagels and coffee, and I was excited to see another small business invest in our city.

A lot of people commented about the prices, and instead of ignoring the feedback, this brand-new business listened and decided to lower some of their pricing. I really admire that.

When you shop small and local, you are not making millionaires even richer. You are supporting local families who are chasing the dream of owning their own business. Of course big chains can usually be cheaper. They buy ingredients in huge bulk, get major discounts, and have systems that small businesses just do not have yet.

I’m really happy to have Bagel & Co here in South Livonia. Everyone I know who has gone has said the food and coffee are top tier.

So if you are on this side of town, please check them out and show them some love. Small businesses help make a city feel alive.

Happy National Donut Day!

I do not have self control when it comes to the doughy sugary breakfast pastries. They are my favorite and I will eat them until I make myself sick.

When grabbing donuts today please make sure to support our delicious local Livonia bakeries like So Delish, Paris Bakery Livonia, The Looney Baker, and Heritage Bakery!

I grew up on Donut Town donuts in Redford in 5 Mile and Beech Daly. I always loved waking up and seeing that my grandpa stopped there for the morning. Local bakeries are important to a towns identity. Luckily in Livonia we have some great ones.

We are proud to announce the return of Livonia Kiwanis Fill The Box - a thanksgiving meal drive.

This year, we are hoping to pack and distribute more than 7x more meals than we did last year working in collaboration with student support staff across Livonia and Clarenceville School districts.

This week, this program was kick started with a generous grant by the Livonia Community Foundation. Their contribution helped us start strong by helping us get to a quarter of our goal.

Thank you LCF for all you do for the community!

Be on the lookout for ways to support our event ahead of this year's Thanksgiving meal drive.

This is awesome!!!

Three talented Livonia students are making their mark across Michigan!

Congratulations to Kailee B., Ava M., and Zoe R., whose designs have been selected as finalists in the Michigan Department of State’s 2026 “I Voted” Sticker Contest. Their creativity, originality, and civic spirit earned them a spot among the state’s top entries, and now they need your support.

Public voting is open through June 30 at 11:59 p.m., and residents can vote for up to three favorites in each category. Help showcase Livonia’s talent by casting your vote and cheering on these outstanding young artists. Winners will be announced later this summer, and winning designs may be distributed at polling places across Michigan for the November election. My birthday was this past Sunday, and honestly, the thing I want most is to help make this year’s LPS Education Foundation Golf Outing amazing.

We are still looking for sponsors and raffle donations for the 4th Annual LPS Education Foundation Golf Outing on Saturday, July 18 at Idyl Wild Golf Course.

This event helps fund LPS grants for teachers and events like Bounce Back to School. This past year, the LPS Education Foundation presented 27 grants totaling over $50,000 to Livonia Public Schools teachers. That money goes directly back into classrooms, student experiences, and creative programs for our kids.

We are looking for:

Sponsorships
Raffle baskets
Gift cards
Event tickets
Business services
Products or merchandise
Anything fun that would help us build exciting raffles

Please share this with your friends, family, local businesses, and anyone who might want to support Livonia Public Schools. The sooner we can get sponsors and raffle items set, the better we can make this event.

To sponsor, donate a raffle item, or ask questions, please contact me at [email protected] or Laura Ulaszek at 734-744-2500 ext. 42150 or [email protected].

Thank you for helping us support LPS students, teachers, and schools. Let’s make this outing one of our best yet.

NEW LIVONIA BUSINESS ALERT!

Plymouth Road got another upgrade! Bagel & Co opened a few weeks ago on Plymouth Road between Inkster and Middlebelt.

This place keeps it nice and simple. Coffee and Bagels. That’s all they need though because they are absolutely delicious.

We tried the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso with Oat Milk and an extra shot of Espresso. It was strong but still tasted great which is rare.

Then for bagels we got the Lox Bagel that came with Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Capers, Onions, and Tomato on an everything bagel. It was huge and all tasted very fresh. Then we got an Asiago Bagel with Cream Cheese and I have to say it might have been the best Asiago Bagel I’ve ever had. The flavors HIT HARD!

The shop itself is very welcoming and put together beautifully. An awesome spot to sit and do some work or just relax on the couch and drink your coffee.

So Livonia you know what to do! Let’s go give this place a great Livonia Welcome and let them know how thankful we are that they decided to open up business in our city.

Without small businesses like this we would have even more empty buildings. So make sure you’re spending your money locally!
