Another week, another local Livonia business to support!
I’ve been meaning to stop by Sycamore Tree Bakery & Café for months now, but I’m usually over in that area later in the evening. Today we finally made it in, and wow, I have been missing out.
First, I have to say, a lot of the newer businesses opening in Livonia have done a great job creating cute, updated spaces that make you want to hang out. But Sycamore Tree might have the most welcoming layout, decor, and staff I’ve come across yet.
The theme inside is pure Michigan. They have signs for all of our state sports teams, a Faygo sign, a huge wooden Michigan art piece, cozy seating, and some of the cutest decor I’ve seen. The whole place just feels warm, local, and inviting.
I got to speak with one of the owners, Kenana, and I thanked her for opening here in Livonia. She told me that back in 2019, while she and her husband Fadi were visiting Livonia, she loved it so much that she told him if they ever moved here, she wanted it to be right here in Livonia.
Well, they made it happen, and I’m so glad they did.
Fadi and Kenana’s daughter was behind the register taking our order, which made the whole place feel even more like a family business you want to support.
I ordered an almond milk cold brew with sugar-free brown sugar cinnamon syrup, and my grandma ordered her classic: black coffee with one cream and one sugar. They fresh-brewed an entire pot just for her. Their coffee beans are freshly ground, which is always a great sign when you’re grabbing coffee somewhere.
The coffee was fantastic. Rich, fresh, and full of flavor. My grandma absolutely loved hers too.
Of course, we had to get some treats. Maddie and Brynn each picked out a macaron, and they ate them before I could even blink. I tried the Dubai Chocolate Croissant, which I guess is one of their most popular items. I’m not usually a big croissant guy, but this thing was calling my name from the case. I had to try it, and it was seriously good. Better than any actual Dubai chocolate bar I’ve tried.
They also have muffins, cannolis, eclairs, croissants, cookies, and more. I also grabbed two dark chocolate-dipped pistachio-stuffed dates to try for dessert after the gym tonight.
I really loved being here and talking with Kenana. The welcoming atmosphere, beautiful decor, great coffee, and family feel are exactly the kind of things I love seeing in our city.
Livonia is lucky to have Sycamore Tree Bakery & Café. If you haven’t checked them out yet, please give them a try.
They’re located at 17150 Farmington Road, in the shopping complex at 6 Mile and Farmington, between Baskin-Robbins and the Secretary of State.
And good news for the kids: they said they eventually plan to have boba tea, which my girls were very excited about.
