Today, several members of the Londonderry, NH Police Association teamed up with community members, the Town Council, and the LHS football team to spread mulch at the LAFA playground.

The playground area was very much in need of some new mulch. Thanks to everyone’s hard work, this only took 45 minutes!

As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work!” Great job, Londonderry!

On June 30, 2024, at about 1257 hours, LPD and LFD responded to a 911 call near Raymond Wieczorek Drive and Pettengill Road. A caller reported that a driver had been slumped over at the wheel for an extended period, and several citizens could not wake him.

LFD arrived on the scene and began to evaluate the driver; as he regained consciousness, he drove away from LFD at a high rate of speed. LFD was able to pass along vital information about the vehicle and the male operating it to responding officers.

A short time later, Officer MacDonald who was on patrol at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport located a vehicle matching the description in the Executive Health and Sports Center’s parking lot.
The operator was again slumped over at the wheel and as Officer MacDonald approached the vehicle and began to speak with the operator he fled. LPD officers pursued the vehicle into the City of Manchester, where the operator took several side streets and eventually came to a stop on Faith Lane.

The suspect, identified as Thomas Lane, 52, of Tilton, NH, was taken into custody. Lane was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Operation, and Disobeying an Officer. Evidence located in Lane’s vehicle indicates he was inhaling Ultra Duster canned air prior to this incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Ofc. Gauthier at 603-432-1118. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Yesterday, LPD bid farewell and happy retirement to Records Clerk Denise Saucier.

Dee began her career in 1982 as a police dispatcher and transferred to the Records Division six years later.

Dee requested no pictures or fanfare. We also promised not to use the mid-80s photo from the police association magazine…

Thank you for your 42 years of service to LPD and the Town of Londonderry; we will miss you!

On June 14, 2024, at 5:15 am, a concerned citizen reported four suspicious males around 220 Rockingham Road. The caller reported 3-4 males dressed in all black and wearing ski masks. This area of Rockingham Road is primarily commercial businesses.

Our midnight shift officers quickly responded to the area and began to look for the subjects. Shortly after arriving on the scene, Officer Burt located one of the subjects in the woods behind a business at 226 Rockingham Road. The suspect refused to comply with Officer Burt’s commands to stop and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody and later identified as: Nelshon Pires,19, of Brockton, MA.

Pires was charged with Loitering/Prowling, Resisting Arrest or Detention and Possession of Burglary Tools. Pires was in possession of several tools and vehicle key fobs. Pires was released on Personal Recognizance Bail and is set to appear in Derry District Court on July 16, 2024, at 8:15 am.

The other subjects were not located. This case remains under investigation and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact or Criminal Investigations Division.

LPD thanks the citizen who reported the incident. As always, we strongly encourage residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity they observe.

We wanted to pass along some valuable information from our Conservation Ranger regarding deer fawn.

Prevent accidental fawn-napping this spring! 🦌
Did you know that fawns are often left alone while their mothers forage for food? If you happen across a curled-up fawn lying quietly to hide from predators, they may not need any help. Fawns spend most of their time alone and the best way to help them is to keep companion animals away and give them lots of space. Avoiding unnecessary intervention and keeping fawns with their mothers will give them the best chance at survival. If you find a fawn lying quietly, hiding in grass or brush, don’t disturb them. Fawns can’t follow their mothers for the first two weeks, so they spend nearly all their time alone. Mom comes back generally around dawn and dusk to nurse them. Fawns are only cat-sized when born, so it’s normal for them to look small and weak. If you’re worried the fawn has been abandoned or orphaned, check on them from a distance over the next 24 hours. The mother will likely return and move the baby to a new spot. Make sure to keep any pets away from where the fawn is hiding.

As we approach the long weekend and the unofficial start of summer, let's not forget the true meaning of Memorial Day. It's a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by members of our Armed Forces. We will remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and their families. Please take a moment during the weekend to pay your respects.

On Monday, May 27th, there will be a Memorial Day Parade. The parade will start around 10:45 am, followed by two brief ceremonies at the Glenwood Cemetery and Town Common. At the conclusion, please join American Legion Post 27 for an open house and cookout.

If you're not attending the parade, please remember there will be intermittent road closures from 10:30 am to approximately 12:30 pm.

The parade route is from Robert Lincoln Way to the Glenwood Cemetary (south on Mammoth Road).

“In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.” -NLEOMF.org

Today, we take a moment to honor those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. In 2023, a total of 138 police officers died in the line of duty.

Please take a moment to remember those who did not make it home.

A little recap from your LPD Airport Division for last week. Officers welcomed the first Avelo Airlines flight from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport on Friday with members of the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport leadership team. Captain Cheetham and Sgt. James Freda, who also coaches Londonderry High varsity baseball, were invited and attended the 2024 Make-A-Wish New Hampshire breakfast at the Double Tree in Manchester. More than 500 businesses and attendees made the event, which shared many inspiring stories. Your LPD Airport Division routinely partners with Manchester NH Police and New Hampshire State Police to give these little warriors a police es**rt for their special trip, which often flies out of .

And lest we forget, Rio worked his first shift at MHT too!

Assassin’s Game—no, we’re not talking about the 2015 movie starring Tom Sizemore and Vivica A. Fox. Don’t bother watching it either; it got a 30% rating on IMDB.

For those who are not aware, each year, high school juniors participate in a game called “Assassins.” Students are given a “target” to eliminate with a sq**rt gun. This game is not school-sanctioned, and students cannot participate during school hours.

Because the game does not occur on school grounds, the players will find their targets at other locations, like their houses, places of employment, etc. Although the game is meant to be fun, it comes with concerns from the school district and LPD. We want to ensure that you are fully aware of these concerns and the potential risks associated with the game.

Since this game started just a few days ago, we have already responded to several calls surrounding it. Each year the calls range from suspicious activity to prowling to criminal trespass. The suspicious activity calls usually relate to a person walking around a residence or building carrying what appears to be a firearm. If your child is participating, it's crucial that they understand the seriousness of carrying a realistic firearm as well as potentially trespassing on others property. We trust in your guidance to ensure their safety and the safety of others.

Most of the time, the students have no ill intentions; they just fail to think the situation through.

If you now have the itch to watch a Tom Sizemore movie, we recommend Heat, Saving Private Ryan, or Black Hawk Down.
