Informational Post
At 2010 this evening Londonderry Fire Department Communication Center received an E-911 call reporting a pole/wire fire in the area of Westwood and Maplewood.
Engine 2 (from south end firehouse) responded and found a tree that had been cut and made contact with the primary power lines. There was an injured subject located in the woods and Engine 2 requested an ambulance and Londonderry Police to the scene.
One subject was transporter to a local hospital by Londonderry Fire Rescue and Eversource was requested to the scene.
At this time power is out in an isolated area around the Westwood neighborhood. Eversource is working to remove the remainder of the tree from the power lines and restoring power to the area.
**Public Safety Announcement**
Always be cautious of power lines when cutting trees or removing branches. Always refer to a professional tree removal company when trees are near power lines. Always consider downed power lines live!

ROADS UPDATE 1/7/24 5:00PM:
As the snow comes to an end the crews are now making their final scrapes, clean ups, push backs and finally salting to get pavement back to black as best we can. The crews have now been here for 24 hours straight and a bit worn out. But the light is at the end of the tunnel even though there’s a lot of work to be done. So please continue to be patient as this last trip around the beat usually takes the longest with all the finesse. Once you see your route driver go by putting salt down you know it’s time to clean the end of your driveway and put your trash barrels out if your serviced tomorrow. We’re wrapping things up. We still advise not venturing out just yet. If you can wait a couple hours we’ll be getting close to done as well as the State DOT and other municipalities in the same mode. If you do head out please keep those speeds down as there are plenty of slick spots till we get that salt in place. And with the temperatures in the low 20’s currently, salt tends to work a little slower at that threshold. Looking ahead we see some precipitation coming our way on Wednesday. If you know of a catch basin that’s in a hard to get to spot and hasn’t been cleared off by the plow, you may want to dig out as we’re expecting a lot of rain out of this next event. Also not a bad idea to help dig out a fire hydrant if you’re lucky enough to have one next to your home. That help goes a long way. We thank you for your patience in this long snow event and hope you continue to be safe!!
