Wow we have a bunch of new LIKES, everybody say HI! Just so the new peeps know who we are this is our Soapbox statement. We started this page to let you listen to City Council meetings before they were uStreamed. They are still available on YouTube. We’re a bunch of friends and family that have varying opinions and backgrounds. We do not always agree but we’re civil. One of us is the primary typis
t (and obviously needs a real job) and is excessively sarcastic. We have morphed from critic to provider of information and then back and forth again. Now we try and answer all your questions. We try and get you to original sources so when we politely suggest you LIKE a page it’s because it saves us steps and sarcasm. It helps when you actually read the link. If an article’s title reads “LB made the Top Ten!” only to discover the article rates us the top ten worst place to live (that statement is fictional; but, an example of what happens when one does not read the original source). We try and post all your events, announcements and meetings. We miss some as we’re actually human and one of us cries. We delete anything we judge to be mean. Don’t be petty. We delete anything asinine (unless it’s funny). Most likely you will be warned. If you feel your right to free speech has been violated start your own page. We are not associated with the City so when you ask us questions about garbage pick up, where do I buy a beach pass on, why are fees going higher, we’re going to do the same thing you would do. Call them. 431-1000. The ladies that answer the phone are very nice. Despite the numerous times we have stated we do not work for the City or are sleeping with any members of the City Council or Administration we still enjoy the rumours. We love that someone thinks we’re a cabal! We want all of our friends to come home, all of our bank accounts back to pre-storm totals, for many of you to come out of your home and get involved in the changes that are happening and understand we are ONE city. Division will only hinder our progress as a Community. We want you to recognize that this is not the friendliest page at times. We’re realists. We deal with NY Rising, neighbors that are insensitive and Visitors that have forgotten we were in a #*%&% disaster zone. We aren’t in the Social Services, lawyers, plumbers, veterinarians, politicians or auto mechanics. We have learned a few things along the way and we share what we learn. It’s our personal journeys so ours may differ from many. Welcome from The Republican, the Democrat, the Independent. The carnivores, the Vegan, the Spiritualist, the Agnostic, the Atheist and the Cynic and the Optimist and a couple of others but we’re still feeling them out. ☺
