Dear Long Valley Business Owner/Community Organizer:

The Holidays have quickly snuck up on us this year so it is time to consider if you would like to participate in the upcoming Holiday Happenings on December 1st from 3-6pm. As many of you will agree, last year's event was a HUGE success for those businesses who participated and we're hoping this year will be no different! My apologies for the lengthy email however there is quite a bit of information to cover.

There is one major change this year though, Amanda Janke from Garden State Social will not be coordinating any community events or raffles as she did last year. Therefore it is up to each business to organize your own craft, raffle, entertainment, refreshments or whatever you may prefer to attract event-goers during this year’s Holiday Happenings. I have taken over for Amanda as the Public Relations VP for Long Valley Junior Women's Club, but I am also the Co-Chair of our Gingerbread House Contest which is hosted at Zion Lutheran Church and one of the major Holiday Happenings attractions. I have been coordinating with the committee at Zion to iron out plans for the afternoon including their Choral Concert, Tree Lighting, Garden Club Cookie Reception, Cub Scout Bake Sale, Santa's Visit, etc….all of which are included on the draft Holiday Happenings flyer/event schedule which will be sent out soon. Whatever event you plan certainly does not have to be elaborate but I would love to include it on the flyer/schedule of events. I would also encourage businesses to work together if you would like to participate but are not located downtown LV within the area where Holiday Happenings takes place. For instance, I know a local realtor who is sponsoring a popcorn machine to be stationed outside of Racks Valley Boutique. I have created a 2019 Holiday Happenings page to host and promote our event in Long Valley and surrounding communities. I will also send our information to local newspapers as Amanda did last year. Mark Kitchen from the Observer Tribute was kind enough to cover the event for us last year and I have already been in contact with him to cover the event again. Just to clarify, this isn't a LV Junior Women’s Club sponsored event however we are a participant and therefore I am happy to spread the word to ensure another successful event for all involved!

Since there are no coordinated public events (like the carriage rides planned last year) I am not asking for any type of monetary donation, however we would WELCOME any donations of prizes, gift certificates, etc. to be awarded to winners of each category of the Gingerbread Contest (there are 5 categories plus People’s Choice and Judge’s Favorite awards). We are a non-profit organization so with your donation you will receive a tax receipt, signage in Zion Lutheran's Faith Hall on display during the contest and three months of free advertising in our LVJWC newsletter which is distributed to thousands of LV and surrounding community households.
Here is the link to our most recent newsletter: https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track…

Whatever your level of interest, your participation will be heavily promoted and our LV Community will appreciate this fabulous kick-off to the season! Please feel free to forward this on to any of your local business connections that I may have missed. Because this event is in just a few short weeks and we would like to promote it NOW, I am asking for your response NO LATER than Tuesday, December 12th. I hope to have everything ready to begin advertising to the public by next Thursday, Dec 14th. I plan to make the new page go live with a “Save the Date” teaser by the end of this week and will promote it extensively asking people to “follow” the page and receive regular updates going forward. If you would like to “Co-Host” the page I can certainly share the access so each business can upload info for their own promotions.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions and I of course welcome your feedback and ideas on how we can make this event a continued success each year going forward!

Kind Regards,

Kate Nelson

The Long Valley Village Association is not a business. It is a forum, a think tank, a place to put forth new ideas, to listen to and to work together to develop a viable, attractive and profitable area for the businesses, the residents and the town. It gives local business owners a chance to meet, network and develop relationships with other local businesses. We believe this kind of solidarity and unity can make a difference in the community and benefit all of those involved
