Well done to Summit Pacific Hospital. Their expansion will serve many people and this was accomplished without leveraging a bond.

Some good news!
Earlier today, Summit Pacific Hospital in Grays Harbor County officially opened its new Emergency Room facility. A "ribbon cutting" ceremony. But this is a worthy story: a $70 million renovation/improvement that the hospital did WITHOUT ADDING A BOND to local property taxes.
Hospital CEO Josh Martin did use various state and federal programs to get the funding done. But no additional property taxes on Grays Harbor families.
Outstanding. Martin knows what he's doing. I'll shake his hand--and help him find money from existing government programs--any time.

OPENING SOON!

Good news…finally the Department of Licensing has a new permanent location.

After months of leaving the former location and customer service struggles, the new location will be open after the “soft” opening July 2nd.

The new location is at 711 Vine Street in Kelso, in the Labor and Industries building offices are located. The photo was taken by The Longview Daily News.

This is good news, finally!

Don’t forget that there are other bridges besides the Vancouver-Portland bridge that desperately need attention.

Call your Federal and State representatives and ask them why is this the most expensive in state history when other options leave some funding hopes for all the other bridges in jeopardy?

Why do we spend billions more for light rail?

What about the other bridges that are even more deserving of attention when it comes to bridge safety?

Sorry…Portland and Vancouver…you need a safe crossing….so do others.

Please enjoy the heat safely. Many of the rivers and streams throughout our district are still cold.

Be extra aware of fire dangers. Enjoy carefully.

Recently I announced my commitment to ask for transparency and investigations regarding the tragic Nippon incident to be expedited and thorough. This process is well underway and we all need the honest facts of “how” this happened.

Here is what I am working on;

Legislation to improve and create standards for storage above ground tanks that store hazardous or dangerous liquids.

Review of worker health and safety standards for those who work around these products and the facilities that store hazardous liquids.

Create a team of experts to make recommendations to the legislature on standards we need to implement. The “experts” include the workforce and state agencies…in the Longview incident the workforce is primarily the union workforce of the AWPPW local members …they were there and they matter.

In addition I am sponsoring resolutions to honor and respect the victims and the families.

My bills can be pre-filed in December.

We are all committed to finding the truth and facts that may need patience while the investigators do their work.

You have my commitment to get these questions answered.

Please continue to send prayers for those workers and their families.

Today the final victim was removed from the Nippon site in Longview.

I ask that we also keep in our prayers and thoughts the injured who are still recovering. Including the coworkers who acted ti aide their colleagues…God bless you all.

The city of Longview crews have worked tirelessly to remediate our drainage ditches that were impacted by the release of the caustic chemical spilled from the storage tank. The City put public safety as the top priority and their actions showed they care.

Well done to the workers at the City of Longview.
