🎉 BIG NEWS FOR LONG VIEW! 🎉

We are excited to announce that the Town of Long View has been awarded $187,425 through the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) Grant! 🌳🏀

This grant requires a 50/50 local match, and the Town has budgeted an additional $187,425 — bringing the total investment in the Long View Recreation Center to $374,850! 🙌

These funds will go directly toward updates, improvements, and new additions to the Long View Recreation Center, helping us continue to create a space that serves our residents, families, and community for years to come.

For $200, you can sponsor a personalized Hero Banner that will be proudly displayed throughout Long View during patriotic holidays, serving as a visible tribute to those who answered the call to serve. Sponsorship proceeds cover the cost of the banner while also supporting community beautification efforts.

Mayor Eddie Marlowe attended the Western Piedmont Council of Governments (WPCOG) Mayors/Chairs and Managers Meeting this evening at Cedar Rock Country Club in Lenoir, North Carolina.

Anthony Starr, Executive Director of WPCOG, gave an informative presentation followed by a roundtable discussion on “Leading Local Government in an Era of Social Media and Incivility.”

It was a valuable opportunity for local government leaders to come together, exchange ideas, discuss the challenges facing our communities, and continue building strong partnerships throughout the region.

Thank you to Anthony Starr and the Western Piedmont Council of Governments for hosting an informative and engaging evening.

The Town of Long View is excited to welcome Susan Matheson to her new role as Administrative Assistant for the Long View Police Department!

Susan may already be a familiar face to many in our community. If you’ve ever had a planning or zoning question, there’s a good chance you’ve worked with her during her time serving as the Town’s Planner.

We’re grateful that Susan’s knowledge, experience, and familiarity with our community are staying right here in Long View as she begins this new chapter with our Police Department.

Mayor Eddie Marlowe had a great afternoon stopping by Pooter Pop in Newton, North Carolina. I had the pleasure of meeting CEO Malcolm Linebarger, who took the time to show me his products and share his knowledge about the business.

I certainly could not leave without purchasing some delicious Kettle Popcorn and some refreshing Hibiscus Tea!

Keep up the great work, Mr. CEO Malcolm Linebarger, and thank you for the hospitality. If you have never been to Pooter Pop, you need to stop by and check them out!

Mayor Eddie Marlowe attended the 137th Old Soldiers Reunion, where he had the honor of riding in the parade in a beautiful red 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible Coupe Sponsored by Armstrong Cars.

Like to take a moment to say a Huge Thank You To Ms. Johnnie Blanton's Students at William H. Johnston Seventh Day Adventist Church School who designed and created the posters to be displayed on the Parade Unit.

Mayor Marlowe was also invited to Miss Soldiers Reunion Meet and Greet at Boutique Auburge, Newton, North Carolina. During the event, he enjoyed meeting with other Mayors, Mayor Pro Tems, and Council Members of different municipalities. He enjoyed speaking with several of the pageant princesses winners and congratulating them on their accomplishments.

It was a wonderful opportunity to see friends and to celebrate the long-standing traditions of the Old Soldiers Reunion and spend time with members of the community.

Mayor Eddie Marlowe visited Longview Elementary School with Principal Mr. Foddrell, Southwest Primary School with Principal Ms. Ferguson, and William H. Johnston SDA School with Principal Ms. Blanton.

During each visit, Mayor Marlowe spoke with the principals and wished them, along with all teachers, staff, and students, a successful and prosperous 2026–2027 school year. He also offered his continued support and assistance to each school throughout the year.

Best wishes to all of our students, educators, staff, and families for a wonderful school year filled with learning, growth, and success!

Mayor Eddie Marlowe attended and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon yesterday at the Long View Recreation Center with the Catawba County Library System’s Library To Go, The Corner Table, and the Long View Fire Department!

A special Thank You to Denise Collins with the Town of Long View and to everyone who helped organize and make this event possible. It was a great opportunity to bring people together, provide valuable community resources, and enjoy fellowship with our Long View community.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the afternoon such a success!
