What are the changes you would like to see in the city?

My priority will revolve around economic growth to work toward the city being able to afford to build a better community and provide local jobs.

Crime prevention in bettering Police Departments assets including looking hard into the jail, it appears to be a waste of money at this point. I do say appears as there may be a plan in the works that's not been shared. A housing contract with the county may be a more cost effective alternative for minor warrants/crimes.

Demolition and property seizure on the non-compliance with code enforcement. Those properties that are safety hazards and property owners who refuse to comply with upkeep. Plans for the seized properties are being looked into..

Lonoke Citizen,
Random thoughts for the citizens of Lonoke.

Yesterday, the mayor made the decision to terminate the Chief of Police. Regardless of anyone's opinion of the chief, this raises some serious questions. The department is already operating at roughly 50% staffing. Firing the person leading the department without an immediate replacement seems like a decision that deserves an explanation.
My understanding is that the chief's dismissal came shortly after the City Council approved raises for the police department—raises the mayor did not support. If that's true, the public deserves transparency about the real reasons behind this decision.

What concerns me even more is what happens now. If there is no qualified replacement ready to step in, who will oversee the certifications, training, and leadership needed to keep the department operating effectively? Public safety should never become an afterthought.

I've also heard concerns about City Council discussions taking place outside of public meetings, including allegations of meetings being held at a private business. If any meetings involving public business are occurring outside the requirements of Arkansas's open meetings laws, those concerns deserve to be examined. Likewise, citizens should have easy access to information about open city offices and opportunities to run for office.

Our city needs accountability, transparency, and real checks and balances. No elected official knows everything, and the best leaders surround themselves with qualified people who will challenge them and provide honest advice—not simply tell them what they want to hear.

You don't have to agree with me, and that's okay. I'll continue to speak honestly, be transparent, and listen to the citizens of Lonoke. The people—not politics or personal friendships—should always come first.

I've had people encourage me to run for Mayor of Lonoke. I haven't made that decision, but I do know this: our city deserves leadership that puts public service ahead of politics, favoritism, or personal relationships. Lonoke can do better.
