WOULD YOU PLEASE VISIT ME?

HUMAN INTERFACE AND EXERCISE…
… are among our dogs’ greatest needs.

The spectrum extends from brisk hikes to quiet quality time with the scared, sad, or overwhelmed dogs – you decide which.

Just getting them out of the kennels for a brief walk, sitting in the sun together, giving them love, or maybe even a bath, makes a world of difference to these pups.

What you get in return: trust, sincere affection, reliable friendship, as well as stress removal with the swipe of a magic wand (sometimes called a ‘tail’) and the warm embrace of soulful eyes.

What you need to know to make this happen:

• Rescue boarding kennel address:
3016 S Hill Street, South of Downtown Los Angeles.

• Dog walking hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, 7 days a week.

• You have to attend an orientation first (email [email protected]).

• Do not bring other dogs.

• No kids under 13. Kids 13 -18 may not walk a dog, but may accompany an adult. Those 18 years old and above become full-fledged volunteers after going through Orientation.

• Interested in walking our dogs? Visit our website (www.sheprescue.org) and click on the ‘Volunteer’ tab. Then email to the volunteer coordinator, and you will be informed of the next Orientation class.

Grateful thanks! We, the pups, are anxious to meet you!

Signed,
Baby von Badra

THANK YOU, EVERYONE!

Snickers here! I've left the hospital, but I was pretty worried and so was everyone else! My body was shutting down -- all the tests were negative for bleeding disorders, and x-rays showed no trauma, but with fluids and antibiotics, something magical happened! I was getting stronger and suddenly, I could stand again and then I was hungry and gobbled down my meals! I think I felt all the
love coming my way! I'm so grateful to you all!!
Forever grateful,
Snickers ❤️

Female Stunner of the Day - Gretchen von Greiz

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Gretchen von Greiz is a stunning 12-month-old long-haired German Shepherd. Her beautiful coat glimmers in the sun on her walks. She’s shy at first meeting but, once she warms up, she’ll be your best friend for life. She can be a little bashful with other dogs as well, but she becomes comfortable in no time. Her favorite petting place is right under the chin; she’ll melt right into the palm of your hand! She has generally done well around other dogs in playgroup at the rescue. Gretchen’s resume is stacked: she’s good alone in the yard, housebroken, not destructive and LOVES to play ball. She can tend to think her job is to be house security, so she’d love a family who can work with her on realizing she can have much more play and far less work in her life! (While good with many dogs, please, no cat friends for Gretchen.)

Male Stunner of the Day - Weiss von Casper

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Weiss von Casper is a very handsome 2-year-old Shepherd-mix, possibly with a touch of Great Dane. Weiss is the friendliest giant! At first, you’ll notice his size and beautiful light coat but, once you get to know him, you’ll realize his best trait is his loving heart. He just loves people and being with them; he enjoyed greeting every person who walked in the door while hanging out in the office and even rolled on his back for some belly rubs. He is mid energy. At times he can get a bit ahead on the leash if he's excited or interested in something. Weiss is doing well in playgroups and enjoys playing with compatible dogs. Our big boy is in search of his very own forever home, and he’ll travel as far as he needs, even out-of-state, to find it!

"Yep, I'm Still Looking for My Forever Home!"

Kenya von Kenzingen is dog-friendly, people-friendly, non-destructive, loving and very quiet. She also wants you to know she is an escape artist and can leap a six-foot fence. BUT... there must be someone out there that has experience with keeping curious dogs safe. That's Kenya's only "issue," but we understand it's a big one. Kenya will need a four-legged buddy to play with, as she is extremely dog social and thrives on her pack skills. Please apply for Kenya von Kenzingen at: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog.html.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Sundance von Staitz is a gorgeous 2-year-old German Shepherd on the larger side. His coat boasts silver highlights and he has a beautiful and striking presence. Sundance has mastered the basics: housebroken, crate-trained, and good alone in the house and when left outside. He has done well with people at the rescue. Sundance walks great with other dogs and enjoys exploring the sights. He shows his charm in playgroups, interacting with all the dogs while surveying his surroundings and taking his time. Sundance needs someone experienced with the breed to show him the ropes. He’s sensitive to unknown people, so needs guidance in this area until he knows that he and his person are safe. He knows exactly what he’s looking for: adventure, fun and someone who can show him how to become the best German Shepherd possible. Do you have what it takes to invest in Sundance’s future? He needs a very in charge matter of fact significant other, and we think he will do best with just one person in the household.

If your home sounds like the perfect place for Sundance and you would like to add him to your family, start the process by filling out an application: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog.html

Male Stunner of the Day - Chaz von Chamerau

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Chaz von Chamerau is a very handsome 2-year-old German Shepherd. He is as endearing as they come, albeit on the shy side initially with new people and situations. Chaz is another rural boy getting used to a busy kennel environment. He likes to take his time to survey a new situation and get comfortable, but once comfortable with someone, he'll sweetly come up for some affection. He also enjoys exploring, especially alongside other dogs, as he enjoys their company and meets them well both on and off-leash. Those of you who've taken in a shy dog know the special rewards that entail. Make Chaz a permanent part of your family today (no matter how close or far away you live!)

FOSTER HUNK OF THE DAY
Carter von Carpin

Carter von Carpin is a GORGEOUS 3-year-old German Shepherd. The Carter Family is alive and well in this good boy, and he can’t wait to make sweet music with his perfect match! A real blue-collar dog, Carter spent a brief stint on the streets prior to his arrival at Westside – despite his time living rough, he is clearly a pup who will create a lasting bond with humans and dogs alike. Carter currently lives in a foster home with numerous other dogs, where he plays the role of Canine Social Club Director. Trotting around like a proud Tennessee Walking Horse, our good boy keeps everyone playing and enjoying the sunshine all day. He has a special relationship with his young puppy foster sister and enjoys her higher energy level, as well as the more mellow companions around the yard (his little sister has promised to take over his important duties when he finds his forever home). With a wonderful medium-yet-mellow level of energy, Carter loves clocking out at the end of the day and checking in for his second job - lovable couch potato. He is currently taking applications for a co-couch potato (wink wink!).

If you’re looking for a GREAT house-trained pup with leash manners, doggy social skills (including sharing!), a gentle demeanor and all of the love you could ask for, fill out an application for Carter the Blue Collar Dog!

Female Cutie of the Day - Moonlit von Mond

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Moonlit von Mond is a delightful, 2.5-year-old, smaller Shepherd-mix. Sweet Moonlit is indeed a force of nature who listens well and rolls over for belly rubs. She attracts so many people with her peppy attitude and loving demeanor, and those perfectly-pointed ears just top off an already adorable package. Moonlit walks well on a leash and is always excited to spend time with you. She is definitely people-oriented versus dog-oriented. Our mid-energy, well-mannered girl displays some apprehension in new situations but, once comfortable, she settles in. Both very smart and house-trained, Moonlit tends to be protective of those she loves. She will thrive with a patient, caring owner who is home most of the time -- one who will not coddle her but rather set boundaries from the start; to build her confidence and teach her that she need not be so protective of her human family (our professional trainer will give you advice!). No other dogs or cats, please.

I'M ALL ALONE!

My name is Snickers and I’m sick! All my brothers and sisters are fine, but something is very wrong with me! Yesterday I couldn’t stand. Today I can, but my eyes are red and my gums are bruised. The vet is running tests to see how to help me. I want to be better and back with my litter being happy again! Can you help with all the tests and care I need?

Male Stunner of the Day - Colt von Colnrade

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Colt von Colnrade is a very handsome, larger-sized 2-year-old German Shepherd. This big boy is housebroken and knows some skills such as 'sit,' stay' and 'quiet.' He was well-behaved both inside the home and outside in a yard in a prior home. Colt can be very sweet and loving and is eager to please his people. He will do best in an experienced home with in-charge people, as he takes his duties as family protector seriously. On walks, Colt is excited about walk time and tends to pull, but is responsive to correction. He has done well at the rescue meeting and walking with other dogs. In doggie playgroups, Colt is calm and relaxed. He enjoys greeting the other pups and making the rounds for attention. This handsome hunk is ready to be your devoted companion.

This poor baby was sitting at these rocks for days. People were feeding him and giving him water, trying to help. He was so sweet but very shy and scared. He ate turkey out of my hand. Gorgeous, healthy boy! Now he is sitting on the euthanasia list @ the San Jacinto shelter. He's being euthanized for being sad. Heartbreaking for me since I tried so hard to help the dog and feel like I am now a part in his murder. If anyone can please share and help me get this baby out today, this is likely his last chance. Please find it in your heart to help. #A1575417 https://www.facebook.com/angelica.parrish/posts/10218036515677069
Not sure if allowed but this gorgeous German Shepherd is located at the San Jacinto a/c and is due to be euthanized at any time for kennel stress. He wouldn't leave the rocks where he was found, and for a couple of days, people would come feed him, leave him water, and try to secure him but he was skiddish and ran away if you got too close. After about 30 minutes with him, I had him eating out of my hand and petting his head. He is sweet, gentle, and has a wonderful soul, but is fearful and being overlooked at the shelter. If anybody can please help him! He can be killed at any moment. #A1575417
