YEMEN EMERGENCY RESPONSE UPDATE: International Medical Corps remains focused on sustaining essential healthcare, nutrition, maternal and child health, mental health and disease-response services for communities in Yemen affected by conflict and displacement as urgent humanitarian needs continue to increase.

Conflict-driven displacement along Yemen’s west coast is driving a rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis.

• 12,597 newly displaced households (86,415 people) reported across Abyan, Aden, Al Hodeidah, Lahj, Shabwah and Taiz governorates.
• Approximately 300,000 people are now affected across the west coast.
• Lahj has become a major destination for displaced people, particularly in Al Mudarabah and Ras Al-Arah districts.
• Local authorities have appealed for urgent humanitarian assistance.

We're adapting our response as displacement patterns shift and pressure on essential services intensifies.

In flood-affected communities across Zimbabwe, International Medical Corps is working to restore access to safe water and strengthen the systems communities depend on.

We’ve repaired damaged boreholes, rehabilitated more than 170 water pumps, solarised 45 water-access locations and conducted water-quality monitoring and disinfection.

Because when water flows, health can follow.

Ebola doesn’t stop spreading when a patient dies.

The virus can remain extremely active and contagious in the body after death. That’s why safe and dignified burial practices are so important.

In the DRC, our WASH team is helping safely prepare Ebola victims’ bodies while respecting religious and traditional practices whenever possible.

Our teams are also talking with communities about Ebola, including the importance of allowing loved ones to be buried in a safe but dignified manner.

And they're helping address fears and misinformation that can keep people from seeking care.

Safety matters. Dignity matters. Community trust matters.

Not everyone gets the chance to learn during their childhood. But that doesn’t mean the opportunity should disappear forever.

In Rural Damascus, Syria, women are finding that opportunity at an International Medical Corps women’s and girls’ safe space. Through literacy classes and access to books, they’re developing skills that can make everyday life easier and open doors to new opportunities.

This , we celebrate the idea that it is never too late to learn.
