The National Medical Association named Dr. Stan Frencher a “Top Healthcare Professional Under 40” and he has won prestigious fellowships for his work addressing health disparities. He’s also the Director of Surgical Outcomes and Quality at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital in South Los Angeles. This former Yale Chief Resident understands that his decision to work in an underserved majority-minority community has significance beyond health. “I can’t tell you the number of times I’m with a patient who will say: ‘I’m really glad to see brothers like you as doctors here in this hospital,’” Frencher says.

With a degree from UCLA’s prestigious medical school, Dr. Maita Kuvhenguhwa could have worked anywhere. She chose Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. Why? “I want to provide top-rate care to people who historically have had very little access to care.” She also has a personal connection to South LA – her mother hails from South Central Los Angeles and her father was a physician at the old King-Drew Medical Center. “South L.A. holds a very special place in my heart,” she says.

“This is about more than a hospital. It’s about a quality health system for a community that has never had one before. It’s about the transformation of a community.” – Dr. Elaine Batchlor, the visionary leader of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital, which with L.A. Care’s support, has won accolades and awards for bringing high-quality health care to a medically-underserved community. Most recently Batchlor was elected to the National Academy of Medicine and also received the prestigious James Irvine Leadership Award for her “innovative and effective solutions” to reducing health disparities in South LA.

I’m proud to be a member of LA care Health Plan
I have an billing issue that i have asked LA care to resolve three times in the last year, three times they have dropped the ball, I am now in collections because they cannot handle a basic claim. On my FOURTH attempt to get this resolved😤, I asked to speak to a supervisor, i was put on hold for 10 minutes to then be told "all supervisors were out of the office on training, and someone would call me back later that day", that was 3 weeks ago, still haven.t got my call back. How about being accountable to your Community La Care?
Why have this insurance if they don't do authorizations for their clients they go through a medical group I have breast cancer and I been trying to get referred to the city of Hope and they denied me twice I don't want the oncologist my doctor assigned me to I want to go to city of Hope they take l.a. care there they said all I had to do is tell my doctor to send a a referral l.a. care and all l.a. care and my doctor does is give me the run around
#GraciasLACARE Por todo lo bueno que hacen en la comunidad y sus miembros. ¡¡Éxito siempre!! Go, go L. A. CARE HEALTH PLAN💙.
Is my doctor really about to consider rescheduling my appt for sonogram results just because I'm 15 minutes late? Insure miss life before health mismanagement corporations!

How does one get timely referrals and to have them show up in the system for doctor access. Seems to be an on-going problem. Any guidance would be appreciated!
You will be seeing this complaint across a range of platforms until this issue is resolved. You came close, but the manager who promised me a call back didn't bother to do so. My wife and I recently moved to the US from the UK, and as such have never had to deal with private health insurance before. The government provides all healthcare in the UK free at point of use, so I have never had to think or be concerned with paying for healthcare. In coming to the system you operate here in the US I was told the one thing I could expect would be flawless customer service, after all it is very expensive coverage so I would expect amazing service if nothing else. For the past 6 weeks I have been calling LA Care and/or Covered California at least twice a week (I'm sure you can pull up records and recordings of these calls) to try and get our plan in order. Each time there has been another issue, and each phone call essentially went the same way; It would begin with me explaining the previous call then asking if everything was in order, including payment info. I would then be told the previous issue was sorted, but now there was a new one, and this would need forwarding to the finance department and that I should call back in 2/3/5 days time to check everything had been corrected. As I say this has been going on for 6 weeks, with me ready and willing to make payments and setup AutoPay every single time I have called. Fast forward to this weekend and I receive two letters in the mail telling me our coverage is being stopped for non payment, and that we would owe you thousands of dollars. Just to reiterate the above I was ready to pay whatever was needed in February, but your staff refused (this is not an exaggeration, they literally refused) to ever take payment information or setup the AutoPay. On this subject I would also like to point out that some of your call centre staff are downright rude. Some are very friendly and helpful and at least appeared to understand our situation, others are reluctant to give out any information and have the attitude that my call is an inconvenience to them rather than vice-versa (this mornings call being a good example of that (3/13/19)). I do not appreciate being sent extremely threatening letters which are a result of nothing but gross incompetence on the part of LA Care. I also do not appreciate having to call you back multiple times per week to see if you have managed to correct your own mistakes. I have easily spent an entire working day on the telephone to your representatives so far (some of these phone calls have been well over an hour in duration) trying to solve a problem entirely of your making. For all this time wasted, and the massive inconvenience of having to chase up a company I am paying a lot of money to to make sure they are doing their job correctly I feel I should be compensated, and to this end I await your offer. But more I just want this situation sorting, I want the policy to be setup, correctly, with payments taken automatically, I want my wife's ID card to be delivered (something we are still waiting for after 2 requests) and then I never want to hear from you again unless we need medical attention. In my entire life I have never suffered customer service as bad as I have experienced from your company.
FRUM ? CZ * CARE ? WELL U KNOW, The CARE !!! BIZNESS is BIG !!! PLAYER
I'm trying to help my sick friend get a biopsy urgently so her cancer can be determined and treatment started. Having trouble with the LA Care facility doing it before mid November. She is getting weaker by the day!!! SAhe needs treatment. Please contact me!!!
