Wife got a new dryer. I looked it up and it calls for 240v 30 amp. Is two separate 30s the same as one tied double. It's been this way the whole 20 years we have lived here. Sorry if the terms aren't correct, I'm a dumb carpenter. Is it safe to use like this or should it be swapped asap?

I'm not working on light and power, I'm doing the Fire, (although I am a Level 9 Electrician of 20 years) but one of our younger guys who is running the light and power pulls me aside and says that he doesn't think the board they provided to be installed outside the pump shed is IP67, I took one look at it and told him that it's 100% an indoor IP42 board, unfortunately his PM didn't care and told him to install it as that's what they were provided, I told the PM all the reasons why it's not an outdoor board and he told me that it has a seal and a rim and that's all that it needs, I tried explaining to him that it's a dust seal not a water seal and the rim isn't designed for water, the water will just sit on top of it but he didn't even reply, some people should be Electricians let alone Project manager senior electricians!

Here's a pic of my electrical box. I can't find an obvious shutoff. In pics I found online, it should be up near where the big black/red/white cables come in. On the faceplate I removed, there's a punch out at the top that hasn't been punched out. I'm pretty sure all the breakers in the middle are just breakers, AKA not the main shut off. I already looked outside the box and followed the wires all the way to where they leave the house and there's not a shut off anywhere there either. Am I blind and is there a shutoff in this box or not?! Thanks!

Is this dangerous? Long story short I am a renter, recently with heat wave have blown a few fuses. Should I be at all concerned about the state of these wires?

Did guy a favor by giving him some work cause his shop was slow. He is not a journeyman but he has done this exact work for 2-3 years now.
I paid him per piece that came to about 60/hr cash. He only makes 25/hr at his company. Very basic and easy replacement of lights.

I told him that is one of my important clients and asked to not cut any corners and do good work and keep everything clean.

After he finished, I paid him and walked the space.
I didn’t inspect every light that he has done, but from a brief look, I am going to check everything tomorrow.

I am including a few photos to show what I am talking about.

My gripes are:

Several lights had different colour temperature settings.

Locking tabs/hooks were not engaged to the ceiling grid.

Some covers were left open, mc connectors not fully inserted.

Ceiling tiles not fully closed, some had damaged corners.

Knockouts, screws, wire nuts left behind laying on the finished floor.

Light that he couldn’t install because of clearance issues is missing cover.

I am sure I will find something else tomorrow. I have not talked to him yet after this but in his mind he did a great job, so he said when he got paid.

If this is his best attempt at such basic task then what to expect from something more complicated?

I better off doing everything myself to keep quality under control or use someone who I can actually trust. This guy is not the one.
