Team Rubicon - Region 6

Team Rubicon - Region 6 #BuiltToServe | Team Rubicon South CenTRal Territory (RVI) serves Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico | #TALON
(9)

Since our founding in 2010, Team Rubicon has deployed on over 165 disaster response operations around the world. We currently maintain a growing roster of 40,000 volunteer members who are ready to deploy. Military veterans have the unique skills and experiences necessary to respond safely, rapidly and effectively in the wake of disasters. Team Rubicon seeks to provide our veterans with three things they lose after leaving the military: a purpose, gained through disaster response; community, built by serving with others; and identity, created by joining a new mission. By providing veterans a mission that helps them regain a sense of purpose, community and identity, Team Rubicon is building the strongest, most effective cadre of disaster response workers in the world. Between and during disaster response operations, Team Rubicon engages our members in training, service projects, and social events to ensure we build the strongest, most effective cadre of disaster response workers in the world. Team Rubicon has adopted FEMA’s National Incident Management System, which gives our disaster response teams an advantage in being able to communicate and interact seamlessly with federal, state and county agencies. Engaging both veterans and civilians as Team Rubicon volunteers promotes veteran reintegration and bridges the gap between military and civilian life. Region VI : TX, NM, OK, AR, LA

Mission: Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams.

Volunteers with Team Rubicon - Region 6 are lending us an extra hand. They’ve assisted with sorting donated items, preparing prepackaged groceries for our pantry and assembling packs for Kidz Pacz, our upcoming summer meal program. In two days they have completed 1,350 packs of Kidz Pacz meals! Their assistance is greatly appreciated.

South 🤠 T E X A S Greyshirts have spent the past few months serving their neighbors near San Antonio while also stretching out towards the Coastal Bend of Corpus Christi, Texas to meet needs in their communities through safe individual acts of service.

We've teamed up serving with local food banks; such as, Coastal Bend Food Bank, San Antonio Food Bank and their #UrbanGarden 👩‍🌾 where Greyshirts harvested squash filling 4 bins weighing in at nearly 💪 1,000 lbs each.....

New #Greyshirts stepped into the arena and shared some pics with us while supporting Team Rubicon's #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors 🏘 initiative!

#Preparedness #ProTips

Here are a few preparedness tips for Cristobal:

🍃 Heavy rain is one of the primary threats. Take action to clear storm drains & gutters of leaves/debris that might hinder drainage

🏠 With sustained tropical storm force winds, think about what actions you may need to take to protect your property

🗺️ Follow your local NWS office for the latest local information. There are 6 offices who issue forecasts and warnings for LA and MS.

👀 Most importantly, the greatest impacts are still a few days away, so keep an eye on the forecast as things could still change.

#SITREP | As of 07 MAY 2020

We're continuing to serve in communities across the country providing assistance such as delivery service for food-insecure populations, coordination and logistics support for those in temporary quarantine, as well as individual volunteers safely helping their neighbors.

These operations will continue to evolve as we navigate a new normal. Together, Team Rubicon has been meeting needs of communities with over 3,500 individual acts of service on a local level as part of the #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors initiative.

Team Rubicon is operating a PPE Donations collection site on behalf of behalf of Denton County Emergency Management. The site is located at 200 S.Mill, Lewisville, Tx and is open from 1000-1400 hours on Mondays and Wednesdays for the forseeable future. We have donated three truck loads of PPE items to the County so far and have a fourth load almost ready for delivery. This load consists of reusable professional grade face shields made by Inspiration to Design in Oak Point, TX. They purchased the materials using a donation made by Rodney Thomson, Region 6, on behalf of Team Rubicon which will result in the delivery of 360 face shields. The photos below reflect owners Sheila and Kevin Meile with the first load of boxes containing face shields behind them ready for delivery.
