TRAFFIC INVESTIGATION

On July 20, 2026, at approximately 10:14 p.m., a hit-and-run traffic collision involving a vehicle, an e-scooter, and an e-bike occurred in the 4200 block of Rosecrans Avenue in the City of Lawndale.

The juvenile riding the e-scooter was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second juvenile, who was riding the e-bike, sustained minor injuries and was treated and released to his parents.

At this time, traffic investigators have no identifying information regarding the suspect vehicle involved in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information regarding the suspect vehicle is urged to contact Detective Ezequiel Garcia at the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station at (323) 820-6700.

🚔 ARREST MADE | LENNOX

On July 21, 2026, South Los Angeles Station deputies assigned to the Lennox area conducted a pedestrian stop that resulted in the arrest of a suspect who was on probation for arson.

During the investigation, deputies recovered a loaded semi-automatic firearm and suspected narcotics. The suspect was arrested for Health & Safety Code 11370.1 (Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed with a Loaded Firearm), along with other applicable firearm-related violations.

Outstanding work by our deputies for proactively removing illegal fi****ms and narcotics from our communities and continuing to keep South Los Angeles safe.

Today, we remember Detective Joshua Kelley-Eklund, whose service, dedication, and sacrifice continue to leave a lasting impact on the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though one year has passed, his memory remains woven into the fabric of our profession. His commitment to serving others, his courage, and his legacy will never be forgotten.

Lawndale Arrest | Burglary (459 PC)

On July 16, 2026, South Los Angeles Station Deputies arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary (459 PC) at a local cellphone store in the City of Lawndale.

The suspects broke the window and burglarized the cellphone store and were later located in a U-Haul while attempting to discard stolen property and other evidence before being detained by the Torrance Police Department. Deputies recovered numerous items believed to be connected to the burglary during the investigation.

In an ironic twist, one suspect was wearing a large necklace displaying the numbers “459” along with a character running away carrying a money bag.

Outstanding teamwork by our Deputies, and a huge thank you to the Torrance Police Department for their assistance in bringing this case to a successful conclusion. Great work by everyone involved. 👏🚔

To close out training, his Training Officer challenged him with a containment scenario that he successfully coordinated from memory, proving he is ready for patrol.

🚨 Parking Enforcement Update 🚨

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has begun enforcing the Nonconforming Vehicle Ordinance in designated unincorporated communities, including Del Aire/Lennox.

Oversized vehicles measuring 8 feet wide, 7½ feet tall, or 20 feet long may not be parked on public roadways without a valid permit.

Violations may result in a $63 citation and may be subject to towing where authorized.
