Jewish Family Recipes is a community cookbook that combines beloved recipes and cherished stories from esteemed chefs and restaurants with the heartwarming dishes of JFSLA’s community members. Most importantly, it lifts our Los Angeles community up by raising awareness and funds for the critical work of JFSLA's Food & Hunger Programs. 100% of the proceeds for the book are tax deductible and will be donated to JFSLA, and earmarked for Food & Hunger Programs specifically. Explore dishes like Adeena Sussman's Chicken Soup, Mike Solomonov's Coffee Braised Brisket, and Jon & Vinny's Spicy Roasted Cauliflower.
JFSLA has been hard at work finding innovative ways to raise money for our community in light of the events over the last few years, with COVID limiting in-person interaction and connection.
One thing that has always brought the JFSLA Young Leaders together is food. Whether it’s challah baking, virtual cooking classes, or in-person celebrations, food is a pillar to our lives and of course, those that we serve.
We’re so proud to announce Volume 1 of our community cookbook, Jewish Family Recipes. 9+ months of love and labor went into collecting recipes from some of the best chefs in California and beyond - in addition to contributions from our wonderful tight-knit community.
100% of the proceeds will be donated to JFS and earmarked for Food & Hunger Programs to benefit the LA community directly. (P.S. your purchase is tax deductible!)

All our services are free of charge and offered in English and Spanish.

JFS is thrilled to be partnering with Stanley's Wet Goods to host a sommelier-led virtual wine tasting event, that you can enjoy from home! With the price of your ticket, you will receive 3 tasting vials that we will taste together, as well as a full bottle of wine. While we are looking forward to a time when we can all gather together (hopefully soon!), we think this is a great opportunity to have friends over, learn about and drink some great wine, and contribute to an incredible cause!
Most importantly, a portion of the proceeds will go towards purchasing backpacks and school supplies for our Tools For School program. Through our Tools for School program, the JFSLA Young Leaders provide backpacks and school supplies to children of JFS clients through our SOVA Community Food and Resource Program, three domestic violence shelters and various other service programs.
You can purchase tickets here: https://www.stanleys.la/jfsla-virtual-tasting-thursday-july-22-2021.html

Throughout the pandemic, JFS adapted and expanded our food insecurity services in order to ensure that people in our community had access to the food they needed for themselves and their families. With our meal sites closed, we pivoted to providing home-delivered meals to isolated seniors and individuals living with disabilities, among others. To meet the need, our Hirsh Kosher Kitchen staff prepared double the amount of meals. This was a herculean task, and we want to recognize the incredible individuals who made this possible.
From 7 a.m. until 11:30 at night, these incredible people were in the kitchen producing meals from scratch. Day in and day out, these unsung heroes committed themselves to keeping our community heathy through the hardest of times. The Hirsh Kosher Kitchen and home-delivery drivers have delivered more than 60,000 meals each month to the most vulnerable people in Los Angeles.
It is these unsung heroes who are responsible for the compassionate service that JFS provides. Whether their focus is on hunger, domestic violence, mental health, aging, children and families, diverse abilities and special needs, or anywhere else across our agency, we are grateful for all you do for the people of LA every single day.
We’re excited to share that JFS has been recognized by Bank of America as a Bank of America Grants recipient.
Contributions like this are essential as we continue working toward providing life-improving services that help the people of Los Angeles live with dignity and exercise self-determination.
Thank you, Bank of America!
