Just so we are clear - this is NOT coming from Metro Government. This is a private group trying to get a tax increase on the ballot for parks.

For me, this is a hard no.

Folks are already trying to make their finances and resources stretch right now. The last thing we need is another tax added on top.

We already invest in our parks through the budget every year - and we have made real progress, especially in areas that have been overlooked. Right here in District 12, we are overhauling Sylvania Park and starting fresh for a community that deserves real investment. We are also looking at new additions (such as what I shared on Facebook last week) at Riverview Park/Greenwood Boat Docks in the coming year.

That’s work we can keep building on - without creating a brand new tax. I am all for investing in our parks. That matters. But I am not for raising taxes to do it.

And I do not have to tell you - folks are already feeling it right now. Out of everything people are dealing with, higher taxes just is not one of the things they are asking for. I will always without reservation and unapologetically do what is best for our community and families… and a no vote is what I believe is best for our home.

Louisville voters may soon be asked whether they're willing to pay more in property taxes to improve the city's parks system.

It’s almost time for the Ken-Ducky Derby (benefiting Harbor House Louisville)!

For $5, you can adopt a duck for the Ken-Ducky Derby on April 25 at Waterfront Park. You’ve got a shot at winning a brand new car, but more importantly, every dollar goes to support adults with disabilities through Harbor House.

Purchase your duck(s) here: gotducks.org

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to spend a full 12-hour shift on a ride-along with our Louisville Metro Police Department Third Division officers - something I committed to doing at least twice a year before I ever took office.

From the moment the shift began, it was a firsthand look at what our officers carry with them every single day. We responded to a serious car wreck, spent time talking with young people who just needed someone in their corner, checked on the elderly, and encountered individuals battling addiction and other difficult circumstances. In each moment, what stood out most was not just the response - it was the compassion.

Time and time again, I watched our officers show up not just to enforce the law, but to help people. To listen. To steady someone in a hard moment. That part of the job does not always get talked about, but it matters more than most people realize.

I am grateful for the men and women who serve our community and for the care they show in situations that are often anything but easy.

Also, a big thank you to Derby City Pizza Company "PRP" for donating dinner to our Third Division officers this weekend - a kind gesture that meant so much during a long shift.

And if you did not know - you can participate in a ride-along yourself. If you are interested, let me know and I will get you the paperwork. It’s an experience that gives you a whole new perspective.

Big congratulations to our District 12 Legislative Aide, Bryson Sebastian, on his engagement!

Bryson was once my student at Butler, but over the years he’s become so much more than that - he’s like my little brother. I have had the privilege of watching him grow from a sophomore at Butler who dreamt about what his future would one day look like into a man who is now living out so much of what he worked so hard to build.

Bryson, I am proud of you - not just for this moment, but for the man you have become along the way. It’s an honor to stand beside you each day as you serve our community, and I am grateful to have you as my right hand man.

Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Sebastian - Bryson and Peyton!

On March 27, the Solid Waste Enforcement team impounded a vehicle involved in illegal dumping of household debris in the 3600 block of Parthenia Ave (District 15).

The vehicle was later located here in District 12, where it was impounded and a citation was issued to the registered owner. The penalties included $1,250 in fines along with impoundment of the vehicle. The vehicle may be retrieved after 72 hours once all fines and fees are paid.

If you see something, say something. That’s how we protect our community. Every step like this matters - remember that a heavy majority of these fines are going right back into the tools, resources, and technology helping us crack down on illegal dumping right here at home.

Louisville Metro Animal Services wants to sincerely apologize for the recent cancellation of our rabies clinic on Saturday, April 11th with Districts 12 & 14.
We understand many of you planned your day around this event, and we fell short of the service you deserve. We've disappointed our Council Members who work hard to advocate for their districts needs. We take full ownership of the lapses that led to this disappointment.

We are sorry.
Our community is our priority, and we are working hard to ensure this doesn't happen again.

We are so thankful for Councilwoman Crystal Bast & Councilman Jonathan Joseph for their continued partnerships with LMAS and look forward to a reschedule date (coming soon!).

Thank you for your patience and for being such dedicated pet owners.
