Thanks to continued prevention efforts teen M**h use remains very low in Colorado. However, increased adult use has returned recently, along with all the negative consequences that it brings to communities across Colorado.

While m**h hasn’t grabbed headlines like opioids have, the drug has flooded cities throughout the Southwest over the last five years.

Colorado teens estimate that 45% of their classmates use ma*****na, but the reality is that a strong majority of teens don’t. In fact, research shows that 91% of Colorado high schoolers HAVEN’T smoked pot in the past 30 days.

Contrary to the stereotypes that sometimes exist about CO teens, it's simply a fact that most are choosing to fill their world with good- and not use drugs or alcohol. 💪

Today begins National Su***de Prevention week and we’ll be sharing important content provided by our friends with in the coming days.

Day One: Know the Signs | Ask the Questions

There may not always be clear and obvious signs that someone is having suicidal thoughts, so it’s important to understand what behaviors, changes, or situations might suggest someone is at risk.

If someone you know is exhibiting some or all of the warning signs, don't be afraid to ask the hard questions:

Are you thinking of hurting yourself?
Are you thinking of taking your own life?

It can be intimidating and awkward to ask these types of questions, but it's important to be direct and allow for the space for someone to share.
