Town of Calumet's new Tender 352 is a truck with one job — and it does it really well.

Took a lap around this one in the shop today. 3,000 gallons, no pump, black over red — one of the last Freightliner M2 112s we'll build on, since that chassis is discontinued.

The stuff I liked most is the little stuff: a direct fill with the valving tucked behind the panel so it doesn't fight the side dump, a drain so you can relieve pressure without soaking your feet, two Zico drop tank carriers that raise and lower with a button, and dump controls on both sides lit up so you can find them in the dark.

Nothing crazy. Just a water hauler built the way we'd want one on our own rig.

Had the opportunity to practice grain bin rescue during our technical rescue drill this week. The Luverne Fire Department has had several successful grain bin rescues over the years and this is directly attributable to practice and having the correct tools. Huge shoutout to CHS Eastern Farmers - they have supported us by allowing us to utilize their facilities as well as donating equipment critical to successful rescues. THANK YOU!

Grabbed a quick walkaround at the shop today — a Darley PSP 1500 sitting on the cart, fully plumbed and ready for the pumphouse.

It's honestly my favorite stage of a build. Every intake, every discharge, every valve on here got put in that exact spot on purpose. 6" non-gated intakes on both sides. 4" tank-to-pump. A 4" LDH discharge on the curbside that runs almost straight off the pump — that thing's going to flow. Crosslays plumbed for inch-and-three-quarters up front, deck gun off a 3", tank fill, hose reel.

Here's the part departments don't always realize: once this module is built and dropped in, that's the truck for the next 25 years. Where the big discharge sits, how many elbows are in the line, which side the pony suction is on — you decide all of it now, not later.

Building these the way we'd want them on our own rig is the whole job. 🚒

Congratulations to White Mills Fire and EMS on the order for their new All-Poly Series 3000 gallon tanker.

We built this truck around the specific demands of the White Mills coverage area — not off a shelf.

Features include:
- Hale Products AP50 500 GPM PTO Sidekick pump with pump and roll
- Extended front bumper with 2 1/2" pre-connect for nurse/relay operations
- Newton 10" stainless steel electric dump valves with in-cab controls
- Angled rear tailboard for increased departure angle for steep driveways and medians
- Whelen Engineering Company, Inc. Warning lights, scene lights and siren
- Ziamatic Corp. (Zico) Electric over hydraulic drop tanker carrier

Cookie-cutter trucks don't always fit the terrain, the access roads, or the water supply plan your department actually has. That's the gap I work in — turning your department's specific obstacles into apparatus that performs.

Took a quick walk around this one on the shop floor before it ships out.

Here's the part I like: it's built for what a tender actually does. Instead of a big side-mount pump, it's running a PTO-driven 500 gpm pump — one button and you're pumping. No auxiliary engine tucked in a compartment that you're praying starts when you're on scene at 2 in the morning.

That decision pays off everywhere. Shorter wheelbase, so it's easier to get down township roads and back into the hall. Compartment space, because there's no pump panel eating it up. Room for cans, extinguishers, water, all the stuff that ends up on a truck whether you planned for it or not.

Preconnect tray with a discharge, a step so reloading hose is easy, 10" stainless swivel dump on the back.

Being on a department myself, I look at these things two ways — what I'd sell, and what I'd want to climb on at a call. This one passes both.

Darley PSP 1500 GPM Pump Layout 🚒💨

Hey everyone, Joe here with Midwest Fire. I wanted to give you a quick shop-floor walkthrough of a Darley PSP 1500 GPM PTO pump we're currently building.

One of my favorite aspects of this setup is its full pump-and-roll capability—it allows your crew to move while still flowing water.

Here’s a breakdown of how we configured this layout:
Street-Side Panel: 6" master intake, 2.5" auxiliary suction, two 2.5" discharges, a 3" tank-to-pump line, tank fill valve, and a deck gun discharge.

Curb-Side Panel: 2.5" and 3" discharges.

Cab-Side / Front Configuration: 2" & 3/4" crosslay, 2.5" crosslay (configurable for front or rear discharge), plus an integrated heat exchanger.

I wanted to take a second to show you inside one of our latest builds: a 2,000-gallon all-poly tanker pumper. We changed things up in the cab by swapping the traditional center console for a bench seat and mounting our standard multiplex screen right on the dash.

What does this mean for your crew?

I took a quick walk around to show off some of my favorite features on this custom build:
🔹 Elkhart Brass Brush Hawk front bumper monitor – perfectly adjustable so you can easily conserve your water supply.
🔹 Federal EQ siren from Federal Signal that perfectly mimics the mechanical Q2B sound!
🔹 A 10-inch Newton stainless swivel dump valve on the back that extends out 36 inches.
