The Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg has been dedicated to providing children in need with the tools and opportunities that lead to lifelong success for over 100 years (2022). We believe in changing the world one child at a time. The club works closely with our local school social workers and community leaders to provide assistance to the children who need it most. support and belong to? They care about children. They're interested in the community around them because the community matters to them. They're people like you. Friends. Neighbors. Volunteers who want to make a difference. And they love to see the difference they make when they work together. The Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg is one of over 200 clubs in the four state Capital District (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC). There are over 8000 clubs worldwide. The Kiwanis Family includes Terrific Kids in elementary schools, Builder's Clubs in middle schools and Jr High, Key Clubs in high schools, and Circle K Clubs at the college/university level. YOU might Ask What does Kiwanis mean? The name "Kiwanis" was coined from an American Indian expression, "Nunc Kee-wanis," which means, "We trade." In 1920, the motto of Kiwanis became “We Build.” It remained the motto until 2005, when members voted to change it to “Serving the children of the world.” In the early years, members focused on business networking but in 1919, the organization changed its focus to service — specifically service to children. Hosted by Camp Kum-Ba-Yah Nature Center

Registration and Judging: 10:00–11:00 a.m.

Eligibility: Children through fifth grade

This free family event will provide a morning of fun, carnival games, and an opportunity for children to parade their favorite teddy

$50 Givens Books gift certificate grand prize winner will be selected through random drawing of all participants at the end of parade.

$25 Givens Books gift certificates will be awarded to the winners of each contest category: Patriotic Bear, Child/Bear Look-Alike, Best Friend Bear, Best Dressed Bear, Anything Bear, and Bear Mobile!

📘✨ Celebrating Our Legacy of Service ✨📘

This past week, the Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg was proud to celebrate a very special membership meeting with the release of our 100th Anniversary Book — a collection honoring the history, faces, and impact of more than a century of Kiwanis service in Lynchburg.

Founded in 1920, our club has spent over 100 years investing in children, strengthening our community, and building friendships through service. It was a joy to welcome longtime members and friends for this meaningful occasion as we reflected on the generations of Kiwanians who helped shape our story.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for this special day, and to the countless members, volunteers, supporters, and community partners who have made over a century of service possible. Your dedication is the reason this legacy continues.

🌟 Thank You, Interfaith Outreach! 🌟

Last week, the Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg was pleased to welcome Shawne Farmer, Executive Director of Interfaith Outreach Association, as our guest speaker.

Interfaith Outreach Association has a long and meaningful history of serving the Lynchburg community, working to bring together people of different faiths to support individuals and families in need. Through their programs and partnerships, they provide essential resources and compassionate care to some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

We are grateful to Shawne for sharing more about this important work and for the impact Interfaith Outreach continues to have in our community.
