SRM received a blessing!!! Three amazing Mercer University music students, all from Alberta, Canada who make up Open Strings Initiative played a mini concert for us today. Playing the cello, viola, and violin these talented young people dazzled us with perfect string music of Bach, Motzart, and many other classical composers. One of our favorites was Moon River. The concert was coordinated by local musician Gloria Gardner-Thank You Gloria!!!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Sanctuary Respite Ministry! We stuffed Easter Eggs, sang Irish tunes with Ms. Charlene, learned the true history of St. Patrick, ate Regina Darragh’s Irish Soda Bread warm with butter, enjoyed a mint chocolate milk shake and set new scoring records in St. Patrick Darts! Best of all Barkley visited us wearing his green bow tie! Oh so much!

It has been a while since we have posted, but it is not from a lack of activity! We have been packing Easter eggs for the children’s egg hunt on the 29th, dancing with our boas, discovering new talents (Nahcole plays the flute beautifully)and holding our own Academy Awards Day. Tuesday we celebrated Mardi Gras with Mardi Gras music and beads, beads, beads!!! We learned more about Mardi Gras, Fay Tuesday, and the history of King Cakes. Then ended King Cake season by making our own mini King Cake. This was our most ambitious cooking project yet, but they turned out very well. We enjoyed singing love songs with Ms. Charlene and ended the day with rollicking game of Tunnel Of Love between the Kings and the Cakes. It was a tie, but an awesome battle!!! Oh so much fun!
