It is with great honor that we announce the retirement of Torres 💙

Through out Torres’ 12 year career he has been a pivotal member of the unit. This incredibly curious, sweet, and playful horse has done it all. He has carried his partners into large crowds, attended countless community appearances, completed search and rescue missions, and stolen the hearts of everyone he worked with. He was always the first one to greet officers for every shift.

Torres served his community without hesitation for 12 incredible years. He turned 20 years old this year and has showed us that he was ready for his next chapter, which he has more than earned.

Torres officially retired on May 22nd 2026. We wanted to wait to share this announcement until after Buckets had his time in the spotlight for his badge ceremony, so each moment wasn’t overshadowed by the other.

Torres found the perfect retirement home with his long time sponsor, Laura Callahan. She has supported Torres for countless years and has fallen in love with our incredibly sweet boy. In the last month with Laura he has found his stride with his new herd and has been spoiled with love and treats.

We are so grateful for our incredible sponsors and the people who continue to support us! Please enjoy these photos from the day Torres retired. We had a short private ceremony to celebrate Torres and to send him off to his new home. We wish Torres a happy retirement and cannot wait to see him enjoying the retired life.

Northside adventures, featuring great chats with the community, and surprise visits from some wildlife in the city. Horses are so in tune with their surroundings that these guys showed our officers where the deer was long before they found it. 🦌
