🚨 Countywide Shelter-in-Place Exercise – Friday, October 3 at Noon 🚨

On Friday, October 3, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., Ottawa County Emergency Management and the Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct a countywide Shelter in Place Exercise in conjunction with the final outdoor warning siren test of the year.

👉 When the sirens sound:
✔ Go indoors
✔ Close and lock windows/doors
✔ Shut down fans, AC, and furnaces
✔ Seal gaps if possible
✔ Stay inside until you feel you have successfully completed the exercise (that’s your “all clear”)

Why? Ottawa County is home to industries, agriculture, and transportation routes that use or move chemicals. While incidents are rare, practicing how to shelter in place helps keep our community safe and prepared.

There is no parking (still) at the fire station for bike path. Your car will be towed. We are aware of a few trail maps that appear to show the trail head starting at our station, this is false and out of our control. Our parking lot is for emergency vehicles and members of our department during an emergency.
