Following President Trump’s cruel Executive Order prohibiting federal funding from being used for gender-affirming care for transgender people under 19, we are hearing reports that some healthcare providers are limiting their ability to provide care for trans youth. We are so sorry that this is happening – and we want you to know that help is available. If your family is forced to change clinics as a result of this EO, the Trans Youth Emergency Project from is here to help you through this crisis.

Southern Equality is also accepting donations to help fund grants. If you're interested in donating, please head over to for more information.

The project provides:
🧭 Patient navigation to unimpacted providers
🎁 Renewable $500 emergency grants for travel & medicine
☂️ An ecosystem of care, including resilience workshops

📢 Calling VA high school students! 🌈✨️

The PLP is looking for students to participate in our new, paid, School Board Fellowship Program in the coming months.

We are looking for hardworking, dedicated students in VA school districts to apply. The program will cover all aspects of advocacy work at the school board level - from recruitment to drafting advocacy plans in your local school district.

In order to recieve compensation, fellows must be at least 16 y/o by October 1, 2024 and legally authorized to work in the US. We are willing to work with students who don't believe they qualify for these parameters, and we still encourage you to apply and contact us at [email protected].

🌈 Joining our team gives you the unique opportunity to get hands-on social media management experience and access to professional development courses. You'll also be surrounded by a supportive team of individuals who are knowledgeable in communications and q***r advocacy.

🌈 We are currently looking for students who are passionate in graphic and/or web design, those who can write in Associated Press style, and individuals who are passionate about q***r advocacy work.

Today marks the 55th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. These riots marked a pivotal moment in q***r history, propelling the Gay Liberation Movement into the spotlight. Today, we continue to fight for our rights and instigate change in our communities. 🌈

This Juneteenth, while we uplight Black voices, we should also take this time to reflect on how far Black liberation has come, and how far it still has to go.

It's time to celebrate YOU, our beautiful q***r community, through acknowledging our past, embracing our culture, and loving ourselves. June is an especially important month to reflect back on our past, as with the 1969 Stonewall Riots and so many of the other scenarios where we have fought for our equality and the equality of others.

This month, take time to learn about q***r history, have fun with others, and most importantly, take the time to celebrate YOU!
