The Optimist Club of Marcellus provides a variety of programs, services and projects for the young people in Marcellus, New York.

The 2026 Main Street Craft Fair, organized by the Optimist Club of Marcellus, should be a great event. With over 70 crafters and vendors and 14 Not for Profit organizations, there will be a lot to see and do. Crafters will line Main Street and head up South Street by the Catholic Church. Come out and enjoy some shopping and some snacks from 10 until 5 on Saturday, June 6th. And don't miss the parade at 3. Hope to see you there!!!!

We had a perfect day for the Annual Leon Plochocki Fishing Derby. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, and other adults who brought so many kids to the park today. Sixty six kids registered to fish. It is always great to see families having fun together and enjoying our beautiful park. Congratulations to Abby Cullen who won 1st place with her 15” fish. Jesse LaPlant and Ashlyn LaManche tied for second with nice 14” fish.

The Optimist Club of Marcellus would like to thank Eric and Carpenter’s Brook Fish Hatchery for stocking the creek for our event/, Stewart’s for donating hot dogs and rolls, and the American Legion for cooking and serving the hot dogs. Special thanks to a very special group of fishermen who volunteer their time to help with preparing and handing out fishing rods.

And especially, thanks to Ted Moosbrugger, Steve Schneider and all the other park employees who work so hard and take great pride in keeping Marcellus Park in pristine condition for all of us to enjoy.

Be sure to join us for the annual Leon Plochocki Fishing Derby from 10 until 1 at Marcellus Park on Saturday May 16th. Children in the Marcellus School District are welcome to participate.

The annual Leon Plochocki Fishing Derby will be on Saturday, May 16th from 10 til 1 at Marcellus Park. It is open to pre-school children as well as elementary and middle school students from Marcellus.
All kids must be accompanied by an adult in order to register and fish. Registration is at the Grove Pavilion in the lower park. We will have worms available and we have some fishing poles for kids to borrow. Members of the American Legion will be serving hot dogs and drinks.
We hope to see lots of families at the park on May 16th.

It is time to start planning for one of the best weekends in Marcellus....Olde Home Days. The 2026 Craft Show will be on Saturday, June 6th, from 10 am to 5 pm on Main Street. If you are a crafter or vendor interested in having a booth, please send a message with your email address ([email protected]) and we will send you info and a registration form.

Well…we are Optimists. Our fishing derby is scheduled for Saturday, May 17 from 10 to 1 at Marcellus Park. We are hoping that the rain is done, the water in the creek will calm down, and the fish will be biting. At this point, we are still planning to have the Fishing Derby. We hope to see lots of families there. Be sure to wear your muddy boots and be ready to watch your kids carefully near the creek.

Just a reminder that the Marcellus Olde Home Days craft show will be on Saturday, June 7, from 10 am until 5. We have room for more crafters and vendors. Please contact me if you would like a spot.
