New to Maricopa or looking to relocate?

Have you lived here a while but feel like you need to try something new? You've come to the right place. Each day something new will be posted that is positive, refreshing and respectful. "Talking about Maricopa"! Maricopa is located in the Gila River Valley approximately 20 miles south of downtown Phoenix. Although recently incorporated, Maricopa's history goes back to the mid to late 1800's when

it became a small community along the Butterfield Overland Mail Route which connected San Diego to San Antonio. Today, Maricopa is a community of 43,482 (2010 census) that enjoys a warm, dry climate and close access to the Sonoran Desert National Monument. Some more fun history! Maricopa began its life as a famous railroad junction when the first M&P train left Maricopa for Phoenix on July 4, 1887. All east-west travelers had to stop at Maricopa, and those who wanted to travel to the north had to board the Maricopa & Phoenix Railroad which took them into Kyrene, Tempe and Phoenix
