What happened to George Floyd was awful. The breakdown of trust in our Communities, I say, comes primarily from weak leadership. Bringing Humanity to law enforcement starts with strong leaders.

The weapon and aftermath of the cowardly attack on our brother with a fire extinguisher. Stay alert and remember: our number one job is to make sure we all go home EOT, not to the hospital.

NYPD officer attacked. Hot in the head with a fire extinguisher.

Another day, another video emerges of a police officer being brutally beaten down. We can’t get complacent. Police officers need support to go out and do our jobs again tonight, to protect ourselves and bring peace back to our streets.

Regular days off have been canceled for all uniformed members of the NYPD, meaning all 36,000 police officers are now working 7 days a week, 12-hour shifts until further notice. This is not unprecedented -- regular days off were canceled for 3 ½ months following Sept 11th. https://7ny.tv/2MkQx57

Ken Osmond, actor best known as Eddie Haskell on 'Leave it to Beaver,' has passed away at age 76….

In addition to being a child star, Osmond was a retired police officer.

He joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 1970, and grew a mustache which helped to secure his anonymity. He worked as a motorcycle officer. He also survived being shot at five times in 1980, being protected from four of the bullets by his bullet-resistant vest, with the fifth bullet ricocheting off of his belt buckle. He eventually retired from the force in 1988.

Osmond is survived his wife and two sons.

May 15th is National Peace Officers Memorial Day. Today we remember and honor Yarmouth Officers Sean M. Gannon and Bradford M. Erickson who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The pictures attached are from 2019 when many of YPD members went to Washington D.C. for Police Memorial Week. It was an emotional week that brought many Officers from across the country together to remember their fallen Brothers and Sisters. The events were powerful and healing.

The men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department thank you for you continued support.

HISTORY
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The Memorial Service began in 1982 as a gathering in Senate Park of approximately 120 survivors and supporters of law enforcement. Decades later, the event, more commonly known as National Police Week, has grown to a series of events which attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers to our Nation's Capital each year.

Wareham Police Department 1 hr It’s that time of year again. With the approach of the 4th of July comes fireworks complaints. Tonight we received a call from a citizen that eventually became impatient with our delayed response to their fireworks complaint. Our response was delayed due to simultaneous high-priority incidents that were occurring around the time of the fireworks complaint. Every call is important to us, but please understand that we do have to triage situations and send our limited resources to higher priority calls first. Thank you to the Marion Police Department for providing mutual aid to us when the emergency call volume overwhelmed our ability to respond to incidents. Also, thank you to our citizens for understanding and we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday.
