🌊 Water Quality Monitoring Begins This May! 🌊
Starting in May, the Little Green Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District, in partnership with GEI Consultants, will begin this year’s water quality monitoring program at Little Green Lake.
Throughout the season, trained staff and volunteers will collect water samples from the lake and tributaries to track nutrients, blue-green algae, water clarity, oxygen levels, and other key indicators of lake health. These data help guide science‑based lake and watershed management decisions.
🙋 Volunteer Opportunity – We Need Your Help!
We are looking for volunteers willing to help transport water samples from Little Green Lake to the Wisconsin State Lab of Hygiene in Madison on select dates throughout the season.
Samples are dropped off the day after collection (middle of the week)
Even one or two trips during the season makes a big difference
Supplies and instructions are provided along with ways to sign up.
✅ Why it matters:
• Supports lake protection and restoration
• Keeps the monitoring program costs down
• Supports in-kind match for the recently awarded grant funds
• Directly contributes to understanding and protecting Little Green Lake
