New Beginnings: Celebrating Our Babies🥰

What a beautiful day celebrating new babies, growing families, and the excitement that comes with becoming a parent!

Our office was proud to participate in the Community Baby Shower, led by the Cook County Department of Public Health and Dr. Karin Joshi.

Nearly 300 expectant and new parents came together to celebrate, connect, receive resources, and prepare for their little ones. The smiles, laughter, and excitement in the room made the day truly special.

Thank you to Dr. Joshi, Cook County Public Health, and the many partners, vendors, and volunteers who helped make this celebration possible. The smiling faces reflect the joy you bring and the safety-net of resources new parents need as they navigate the journey.

Recently, our office was honored to participate in the Justice, Witness & Expungement Summit at the Barbara W. Smith Life Center, hosted by the Second Chance Collaborative.

The powerful day was seamlessly coordinated by BWS Life Center Community Outreach and Volunteer Teams including Ms. Essie Hall. brought together faith leaders, attorneys, elected officials, mental health professionals, and community advocates, including Rev. Dr. Patrick Daymond, Judge Trisha Smith, Judge Tyria Walton, Attorney Marcia Thompson, Illinois State Representative Will Davis, DA Quawn Bruce, Dr. Eliza Solowiej, Antonio Ellzey, Jerry Davis-El, and Elder Lanyaird Smith.

Cook County Commissioner Dr. Kisha E. McCaskill - 5th District provided information regarding County resources for persons with challenge backgrounds, and the organizations that provide service to this population.

The Summit also featured discussions on mental health awareness, voting rights and voter suppression, knowing your rights, education, justice, and second chances, along with voter registration and a powerful Drumming for Life experience.

It was a meaningful event centered on restoration, dignity, justice, and opportunity for individuals with challenging backgrounds who deserve a second chance.
