It is the trip of a lifetime! This is your chance to join our Marshall Sister City delegation to Japan.
Information regarding the 2025 Goodwill Mission to Shiga was presented at yesterday's State Meeting.
Dates: July 8 thru July 17
Cost: $3,250
Deposit of $200 and application form due March 3, 2025
Itinerary: Flying into Tokyo from Detroit, bullet train to Kyoto; one free day in Kyoto; five day homestay in Koka; train back to Tokyo; one free day in Tokyo; flight from Tokyo back to Detroit.
Limiting State delegates to 38 people.

We are very grateful to Yusuke Shindo, Consul General of Japan in Detroit that joined us at our Taiko Drumming event to celebrate our Marshall Sister City 40th anniversary. We were honored to host him in Marshall and are thankful for his kind words addressed at the beginning of the concert.

What a special Marshall Sister City 40th anniversary celebration with our Marshall community! The Raion Taiko Drummers came with Drum and Dream, Thunder and Spring Rain, Wind Rushing into waves of “The Great Lakes” in celebration of the to Marshall-Koka Sister Cities and gratitude for Michigan-Shiga and offered an amazing interactive music experience! The Sister City Matcha Ice cream from our local True North Ice Cream, but made with green tea from Shiga, was a delicious treat at the end of the night. Thank you Raion Taiko Drummers, Great Lakes Taiko Center, Marshall Sister City, Marshall High School Auditorium for Performing Arts, True North Ice Cream!

An amazing meeting by chance. Our Marshall Sister City connections are strong. Two Marshall Sister City board members met by coincidence The Marquette Sister City and their delegation from Higashiōmi, Shiga Prefecture, Japan while planting a beautiful maple tree as part of their 45 years anniversary. Happy Anniversary Marquette and Higashiōmi, Japan!

We are excited to announce that from Sept 6 to Sept 10, 2024 we will be welcoming a group of four delegates from our sister city, Koka, Japan.
We are seeking two generous families to provide short-term homestay for two young delegates (24-year-old male student and 19-year-old female student) from Koka from Sept 6 to Sept 10, 2024.
Please, comment to this post if you have any questions and would like to host a delegate from Koka City in September 6-10, 2024. The deadline to apply as a host family is July 12, 2024.

United Through Lakes! 55 years of friendship between Shiga and Michigan!

Did you know? On November 14, 1968 (exactly 55 years ago today) Governor Romney of Michigan and Governor Nozaki of Shiga signed the agreement establishing our sister-state relationship!
