Dillon Thomas - Assistant Chief
Dillon has been in public service for 17 years, starting with Plainwell DPS in 2009 as a cadet. In 2017 Dillon and his wife moved into Martin and he started with MFD; both have significant family ties to the area. His two sons are enrolled at Brandon Elementary in Martin Public Schools. Dillon has enjoyed coaching his boys' flag football and baseball teams last year and looks forward to creating more memories with them.
Dillon comes from a Public Safety family. His stepfather is retired Law Enforcement from Otsego PD, his uncle is a current Fire Captain, Fire Marshal and PSO with Plainwell DPS, his brother is a current firefighter with Plainwell DPS, a cousin is a Lieutenant with Otsego Fire and another cousin who previously served as firefighter with Gunplain Twp.
Dillon's responsibilities in the department as Assistant Chief include assisting Chief Knight with day to day responsibilities, command on scene, ensuring completion incident reports, leading the medical response program, assisting with Budget planning, scheduling PR Events and generating reports.
Dillon is proud of making lasting impacts on the community. Specifically with out of hospital cardiac arrest field saves and meeting with elementary students annually for fire safety education.
Dillon hopes to "Continue to be a mentor for the up and coming firefighters and command staff. Secure some form of a station staffing model for the Martin Community. We are one of the last departments in the county not to have full time or even scheduled part time staffing of our station."
