Mason Fire / EMS Department hosted May's monthly EMS training with Brookline Ambulance Service

Robin Behl, New Hampshire Fire Academy & Emergency Medical Services Simulation Program Coordinator, brought a high fidelity pediatric simulator, and also an Instructor III student, Christy Brodeur.

March training was "One Pill Killers," common medications that may be toxic or fatal in small amounts. Wednesday's training was the psychomotor (skills) portion of this topic. We treated the pediatric simulator as a real child that had ingested an unknown substance.

Thank you to our presenters and attendees. If you have not taken advantage of the state simulation program, you should.

Fire-EMS are welcome to join at 1800.

CANCELLED. Conditions changed - too windy and relative humidity dropped.

Sunday April 12

We are doing a prescribed fire training this afternoon which will be visible from Pratt Pond Road and Greenville Road.

Fire personnel and equipment will be in the area.

Earlier today Mason crews with Tanker 1 and Forestry 1 assisted Greenville with their 2nd alarm brush fire.

This serves as a reminder that the fine fuels on the ground surface dry out quickly even with the recent rain over the weekend.

While these fires do not typically burn deep into the ground they can move very quickly when pushed by the wind so it is everyone's responsibility to be vigilant and report out of control fires immediately. Stay safe out there.

From Thursday night training:

1. Lt Landry teaching some of our new members the true importance of our PPE. Training like this for our new members will help prepare them for academy classes.

2. Lt. Smith running Engine 1 drill of drafting from the Jones Crossing cistern. It is vitally important that our driver operators are able to both drive and operate the specific apparatus they are checked out on. The late season snow did not keep us inside!

03/22/2026

Due to the lack of snow cover, Hollis, Brookline and Mason Fire Departments are requiring a written burning permit for all fires kindled outside. If you had a seasonal category 1 or 2 in 2025 it expired on December 31,2025. It is time for your renewal, please contact your respective Fire department or go to the DNCR website.
