This is one of our numerous shooter drills we participated in since last year. I am blessed to have a strong active team. Thanks Sheriff Golden for taking a group picture with us. I must say the Sheriffs office has a professional team of men and women

The #MCSONJ conducted an active shooter training exercise at the Monmouth County Courthouse organized by #SheriffGolden, the Law Enforcement Division and Monmouth Vicinage, which provided officers and judiciary staff an opportunity to train and test response to simulated real life scenarios.

Thanks to all the participants for helping accomplish the purpose of the exercise aimed at enhancing skills and techniques, particularly Aberdeen-Matawan CERT who acted as victims, Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the NJ Department of Homeland Security.

General information

Aberdeen CERT was established in 2004 and successfully graduated five classes - all volunteers. The new team Aberdeen-Matawan CERT was approved in Februaty 2013 and has since graduated two more classes. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. CERT members also assist local municipalities with scheduled events when requested. CERT members are all volunteers.
