The Cert team got called out at 7:30 pm tonight for a missing elderly male in Alantic Highlands. He was last seen on the Henrey Hudson trail. Around 9:45pm a resident spotted someone sitting in their car he got cold and was trying to warm up. Glad it had a happy ending. A special thanks to my CERT team for coming out for the search.

Attention all Aberdeen residence, the remnants of hurricane Delta are likely to affect the region late this weekend and into early next week. There is the potential for 1 to 3 inches of rainfall over most of our area from late Sunday to early Tuesday. Because of recent dry weather and because the event will be spread out over about 36 hours, we are not expecting significant impacts for our area. While some typical nuisance flooding is possible, the potential for flash flooding on our Bayshore area, flooding appears low at this time. We will continue to monitor the progress of the system and will provide another update by Friday afternoon.

Aberdeen-Matawan CERT had a busy Memorial weekend. On Sunday we participated in the Matawan Parade. We assisted PD with road closures and had our vehicle and trailer in the parade.

On Monday we attended Fire district #2 services at Aberdeen Town hall. Following the services there was another service held at the spray park which is called Veterans park. The last stop was at the VFW for another service.
We all support our men and women of the armed services.

General information

Aberdeen CERT was established in 2004 and successfully graduated five classes - all volunteers. The new team Aberdeen-Matawan CERT was approved in Februaty 2013 and has since graduated two more classes. The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. CERT members also assist local municipalities with scheduled events when requested. CERT members are all volunteers.
