JUDGE SETS BOND FOR TOP PENITAS OFFICIAL JAILED FOR ALLEGED FI****MS VIOLATIONS

A top official with the city of Penitas has been granted bond following his arrest this week on a federal fi****ms charge. A McAllen federal magistrate Thursday set a bond of $75,000 for Andres Morales, who serves as the chief of staff for Penitas. Morales is charged with making false statements on fi****ms purchasing forms on two occasions when he bought guns in 2017. As first reported in the Progress Times, Morales is accused of lying when he stated he had not been previously convicted of a felony. Morales had pleaded guilty to a felony charge of drug possession in 2006 following an arrest in Mission.

Biden Applauds New CDC Facemask Guidance

President Biden is applauding the new facemask guidance from the CDC, calling it a “great milestone” and a “great day.”

The CDC said fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks or physically distance in most circumstances, indoors or outdoors.

Speaking in the Rose Garden, Biden credited the nationwide vaccination program that he accelerated when he took office. He called it an “historical logistical achievement.”

Texas Lawmakers Approve Abortion Ban As Early As 6 Weeks

(AP) — Texas lawmakers have approved a measure that would ban abortions after as early as six weeks and allow private citizens to enforce the rule through civil lawsuits against doctors and others.

The Senate vote Thursday sends the bill to Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who is expected to sign it into law. That would bring Texas in line with about a dozen other GOP-led states with so-called “heartbeat bills” that have been mostly blocked by federal courts.

The Texas measure is also likely to draw a swift legal challenge from abortion rights groups.

‘Amazing’: Pilots, Passenger Uninjured After Midair Crash

DENVER (AP) — The pilot of an airplane that collided with another midair near Denver requested emergency landing for engine failure, not knowing that his plane was nearly ripped in half.

According to air traffic control audio, that pilot said his right engine had failed. Authorities say the collision between the twin-engine Fairchild Metroliner and the single-engine Cirrus SR22 happened Wednesday. Key Lime Air says its Metroliner’s tail section was substantially damaged, but that the pilot landed safely at the Centennial Airport.

Authorities say a pilot and one passenger were on the other plane that deployed a parachute and drifted safely down to a field. An Arapahoe County sheriff’s deputy said it was “amazing” that no one was injured.

CDC Panel Endorses Pfizer Vaccine For Kids 12-15

(Atlanta, GA) -- A CDC panel is giving the green light to let younger kids get the coronavirus vaccine developed by Pfizer.

The endorsement means kids from 12- to 15-years-old are one step closer to getting vaccinated. Approval from CDC Director Rochelle Walensky is the last step in that process.

Well, there ya go.

House GOP Ousts Trump Critic Liz Cheney From Top Post

(AP) — House Republicans have ousted Rep. Liz Cheney from her post as the chamber’s No. 3 GOP leader. They used a voice vote to punish her after she repeatedly rebuked former President Donald Trump for his false claims of election fraud and his role in inciting the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.

A closed-door meeting to depose her lasted less than 20 minutes. By removing the Wyoming congresswoman from her leadership perch, the GOP produced the latest evidence that challenging Trump can be career-threatening.

Cheney was defiant and made clear inside the meeting, and afterward, that she would continue trying to steer the party away from the former president.

THOUSANDS STILL WITHOUT POWER FOLLOWING OVERNIGHT STORMS

Areas of the Rio Grande Valley are having to do some cleanup today following overnight storms that dumped several inches of rain - flooding streets, toppling trees, pulling down power poles, and knocking out power to many parts of the region. More than 21,000 people lost electricity before the storm blew through. That forced the Donna and Mercedes ISD's to cancel both classroom and online classes for today. Currently, power remains out to about 10,000 customers from Rio Grande City to South Padre Island. The strongest winds were clocked at just over 60 miles an hour. The National Weather Service says an average of 2.3 inches of rain fell across the region with areas north of Edinburg and the Delta getting more than 4 inches.

About the Colorado shooter. I find it ironic why police want to find a logical excuse for a person who is unstable to begin with.
Thank you, thank you, thank you KURV (Sergio Sanchez) for calling it out as it is in your show today - they ARE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS - NOT Migrants. Also, please continue to call attention to the 3,000 ILLEGAL "UNACCOMPANIED children" who are ACTUALLY ILLEGAL 17-18 years old! THOSE are NOT CHILDREN! In the United States, 17-18 years old are either a year away from or are actually ADULTS!!! So WHY is the media calling them CHILDREN!

Oh Davey. You talk about not hammering that nail cause you are afraid of being misinterpreted or in your own extremely educated vocabulary, mis-speaking when poor Roxy was quoting from the soft ball town hall. Hey Davey did you know that Biden used and probably still use the N word? By the way if you ever took the time to see the hordes of illegals walking down the streets in Mexico you would have noticed that most had cell phones. Not flip phones. Guess what else you ignorant butt hole, you have to have some advanced techy knowledge to use 1. Our American elderly should be getting the vaccine first IF they want it. Illegals are here illegally. Get it you dumby. Illegal means illegal. I'd like to see you try and enter any other country without the proper docs. I'd bet you the farm that you would not be first in line for that shot. What say you? I write, but Roxy is usually the only one who responds. Damn you make me upset with your non-chalant attitude about serious stuff, but since I am a conservative libertarian I have nowhere else to go. Keep it up. I really feel like you are educating me. NOT
