🐾 MEET MISTY — SHE’S READY FOR A DIFFERENT KIND OF LIFE 🐾

For most of her 5 years, Misty’s world has been life outside on a chain. 💔 Now, we’re hoping to show her that life can be so much more.

Misty is a beautiful German Shepherd who truly enjoys being around people. After spending so much of her life outside, she deserves to learn what it feels like to be part of a family—to have a soft bed, a safe yard, someone to follow from room to room, and a person to call her own. 🏡❤️

🐕 About Misty:
• 5 years old
• Female & spayed
• German Shepherd
• Loves being around people
• Great with other dogs
• A meet & greet will be required with any dogs already in the home

Misty can’t change the first five years of her story, but someone out there can change every year that comes next.

Did you know ASAP of McComb, MS (Aiding Shelter Animals Project) helps provide many of the everyday extras for the animals at the City of McComb Animal Control Shelter that the City is unable to provide? ❤️🐶🐱

One way ASAP raises money is through TWO booths at Rustic Charm Vendor Gallery in Summit!

🛍️ Aiding Shelter Animals Booth — Always filled with treasures just waiting to be found!

👶 Dollie’s Closet — Gently used baby items and children’s clothing at great prices!

💯 ALL proceeds from BOTH booths go directly toward helping animals! Funds help with things like:
🐾 Shelter supplies
🐾 Extra medical needs
🐾 Transportation costs
🐾 And other needs that come up for animals in our care

📦 YOUR DONATIONS CAN HELP!

ASAP is always looking for donations—big or small—to sell in the booths. Cleaning out closets, redecorating, or just have some nice things you no longer need? Consider donating them and turning those items into help for an animal! ❤️

🎉 BABYGIRL FINALLY FOUND HER PERSON! 🐾❤️

After months of waiting at the shelter, our sweet Babygirl finally found the person who was willing to give her the chance she deserved.

Babygirl has always been shy around new people, which made finding the right home a little harder. But we refused to give up on her. We just knew that somewhere out there was someone who would see past her nervousness and give her the time she needed.

And then that person came along. ❤️

But Babygirl decided to make sure her new family was REALLY committed! 😅 Within minutes of arriving at her new home, Babygirl got loose. Monique made a trip out to help get her safely caught, and after all that excitement, her adopter could have easily said, “Maybe this isn't going to work.”

But she didn't.

She didn't bring Babygirl back to the shelter. She gave her another chance. She gave her patience, time, and a safe place to realize that she was finally HOME. 🏡💕

And now look at her! 😭❤️ We received these pictures of Babygirl settled into her new life, and they mean more to us than we can put into words.

Thank you for not giving up on her when things didn't start out perfectly.

And Babygirl…we're SO glad we never gave up on you either. ❤️

Sometimes the dogs who are a little harder to reach are the ones who make the happy endings that much sweeter.

Happy tails, Babygirl! You waited a long time for this. 🐾🏡❤️

🐾💜 THANK YOU, McCOMB! 💜🐾
What a wonderful evening we had at our Open House yesterday!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to stop by and visit us. We were so grateful to welcome city officials, community supporters, friends, and plenty of new faces through our doors. Your support and interest in what we do at the City of McComb Animal Control Shelter truly means so much to us.

And we weren’t the only ones who enjoyed the company! 😂 Our dogs and cats had the BEST time meeting everyone, soaking up all the extra attention, and—most importantly—collecting LOTS of treats! 🐶🐱🦴

Now for my one regret… I talked so much that I completely forgot to take pictures! 🤦‍♀️😂 I guess that’s what happens when you’re excited to show everyone around!

Today is the day!! We can't wait to see everyone! Looks like the rain will be moved out just in time 🙌

We have many sweets that will be up for grabs at our sweet table. And fresh lemonade to enjoy. All donations collected will go to Mississippi Animal Project, to help provide spay and neuter vouchers for the public.

🙏🐾 PEGGY NEEDS ALL THE GOOD VIBES & PRAYERS TODAY! 🐾🙏

Our sweet Peggy is headed to Capital Area Veterinary Specialists, and we’re asking everyone to send her all the prayers, positive thoughts, and good vibes you can! ❤️

Peggy’s first set of X-rays showed several concerning issues with her back legs, so today she’ll be seen by specialists to hopefully give us more answers and, most importantly, a plan to help her.

If you’ve met Peggy, you know just how special she is. 🥹 She is fun-loving, happy, and full of personality, and she deserves every chance possible at a future filled with adventures, zoomies, love, and—hopefully—a life without pain. 🐶💕

We know our girl is in good hands, and we are incredibly grateful to Mardi Paws for making this specialist visit possible. Once again, they are stepping up when one of our animals needs them most. ❤️🐾

And a HUGE thank you to Theresa Foreman Johnston for helping get Peggy to her appointment today! 🚗💕
Come on, Peggy girl—you’ve got an entire community cheering you on! 🙏❤️🐾

🐾 Tucked In & Safe for the Night 🐾
With close to 40 dogs and puppies in our care, bedtime can get a little busy! ❤️ But no matter how full we are, every single dog comes inside each evening to escape this triple-digit heat and get a much-needed break in the cool.
🌧️ Quick note: This video was taken Friday right after we rushed to get everyone safely inside before the storm rolled in—so a few pups hadn’t gotten their blankets and beds down for the night just yet!
It may be crowded, it may be hectic, but once everyone is tucked in, fed, watered, and safe… we can finally say goodnight from the shelter. 🐶💤❤️

Thank you, Mardi Paws, for always being willing to step up and help animals in need. ❤️🐾

Mimi, our little Lowe's Home Improvement kitten, is on the road to recovery and will hopefully be available for adoption soon! 🐱💕

Although Peggy’s prognosis wasn’t the news we had hoped for, we aren’t giving up on her. We are determined to do everything we can to help her heal and give her the best chance possible. Please keep sweet Peggy in your thoughts as we continue fighting alongside her. ❤️‍🩹🐾

We are incredibly grateful for organizations like Mardi Paws that make it possible for us to give animals like Mimi and Peggy the care they deserve.
