This week, preservationists from across Mississippi gather in Brookhaven for the 2026 ListenUp! Historic Preservation Conference & Heritage Awards — and the McComb Historical Preservation Commission couldn't be happier.

If you're interested, Wednesday evening, the conference kicks off with a Welcome Party and MHT Annual Membership Meeting from 5:00–6:00 PM at a location worth noting all by itself:

Hosted in partnership with the Lincoln County Historical and Genealogical Society, this opening gathering takes place inside one of Mississippi's historic Jewish congregation buildings — a reminder that preservation isn't just about bricks and mortar. It's about the full, layered story of who built our communities and what they left behind.
