Live burn at Hocking College.

Opinion Time:

Just look at this stream.

A vast majority of the HEN Nozzles pictures and videos I see focus on the blade pattern. Rightfully so; it’s a game changer and what puts this nozzle in a league of its own.

It’s no secret that Twin City is smooth bore through and through; it’s at the core of nearly every class we teach. I think it’s easy for people, especially hardcore smooth bore purists, to miss that the heart and soul of the HEN is smooth bore.

We did a fair bit of testing recently, comparing our beloved smooth bore nozzles to the HEN. We didn’t get a lot of great pictures, but we sent a ton of water down range.

This may not be exactly how HEN wants me to describe their nozzle, but for me, it’s a smooth bore nozzle first and foremost. Everything we have been preaching for years about the benefits of smooth bore nozzles, this more than checks the boxes. You want a solid stream with more GPMs and less nozzle reaction; this is it.

With the blade pattern (literally less than a quarter turn), we are taking the smooth bore water and reshaping it for more coverage, maintaining the big water droplets and the big flow. This is not combination nozzle water; this is smooth bore water - reshaped. This feels somewhat sac religious to a smooth bore baptist, but aren’t we doing something very similar with water mapping? Hitting a surface and changing the shape of the stream for maximum coverage?
