McKinney FD worked a 2-Alarm residential structure fire on Avalon Woods Dr. early Sunday morning. First arriving crews reported heavy fire at the rear of the structure and a resident stranded on the roof. Med 5 made a prompt ladder rescue. The fire was quickly brought under control. Here are a few shots from the scene.

Tonight we are proud to celebrate, and support one of our brothers, Randy Atchley for Anna City Council Place 4 who was elected to serve the citizens of Anna Texas. Randy secures his place on council by grabbing 64% of the votes in a run off election for his place. It will be the first time an active firefighter, and union member, from McKinney is elected to serve.

Due to staffing shortages, our members have been working hard and long hours this year. As vacant spots go unfilled, those spots must be filled by mandatory overtime. In the last two months, many of our members have been required to fill a mandatory spot 2-3 times a month regardless of holidays or off-duty plans.
