The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Lane Regional Air Protection Agency, Washington Southwest Clean Air Agency, issued an air quality advisory Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, due to smoke from multiple wildfires in Oregon and Washington for the following areas:
• Portland-Vancouver metro area (Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties as well as Clark County in Washington)
• Baker County
• Benton County
• Columbia County
• Crook County
• Deschutes County
• eastern Douglas County
• Gilliam County
• Grant County
• Harney County
• Hood River County
• Jefferson County
• central and eastern Lane County
• Linn County
• Malheur County
• Marion County
• Morrow County
• Polk County
• Sherman County
• Umatilla County
• Union County
• Wallowa County
• Wasco County
• Wheeler County
• Yamhill County

The agencies expect the air quality advisory to last until further notice. DEQ and partner agencies will continue to monitor smoke.
DEQ and LRAPA expect intermittent smoke in Clatsop, Coos, Curry, western Douglas, Klamath, Lake, western Lane, Lincoln, and Tillamook counties.

SWCAA also issued an ozone air quality advisory starting at noon Tuesday, Aug. 4, through Thursday, Aug. 6, due to smog in the Vancouver metro area (Clark County).

Thanks again to Adam & Karmen, and all the rest of our wonderful volunteers who staffed a booth alongside county departments and other volunteer programs at the Yamhill County Fair & Rodeo this year! We passed along some great emergency preparedness resources to the community, worked to build awareness about our program throughout the event, and the kiddos had fun spinning our prize wheel!

With more than 75 active wildfires are burning across Oregon, conditions can change fast. Now is the time to have a plan.

If a wildfire threatens your area, remember 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮, 𝙎𝙚𝙩, 𝙂𝙤!

🟢 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗬: Make a plan, pack a go bag, and know more than one evacuation route.

🟡 𝗦𝗘𝗧: Be prepared to leave at a moment's notice. Gather your family, pets, and essential items, and stay informed.

🔴 𝗚𝗢: If you're told to evacuate, leave immediately. Don't wait to see smoke or flames. Evacuation orders are issued to protect lives.

⏰ Need extra time to evacuate? Leave one level earlier.

If you or someone in your household may need additional time to evacuate—including older adults, people with disabilities or access and functional needs, families with young children, those who rely on medical equipment, or anyone with pets or livestock—consider taking action one evacuation level earlier.

🟢 Level 1 – Be Ready: If your household may need extra time to evacuate, consider preparing as though you're already at Level 2.
🟡 Level 2 – Be Set: If you need additional time because of disabilities, access and functional needs, medical needs, children, pets, or livestock, consider leaving now rather than waiting for Level 3.
🔴 Level 3 – Go Now: Leave immediately. Do not delay.

Planning ahead can help you travel more safely, avoid traffic, and reduce stress during an evacuation.
