St. James Haven

St. James Haven Sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph, St. James Haven is a homeless shelter for men. St. to 8:00 a.m.

James Haven, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, provides safe shelter and support for homeless men 365 days a year from 6:00 p.m. Each night, guests receive a warm meal, a hot shower, hygiene products, and a comfortable bed in a welcoming environment. Our goal is to offer a place where men can regain stability without the immediate worry of where they will sleep or eat. We believe in providing a

hand up, not a handout, working closely with local social service agencies to help our guests transition into independent living. Staffed by an Executive Director and two live-in managers, St. James Haven is supported by a dedicated board of directors, nightly visitors, and volunteers who ensure each guest is treated with kindness, respect, and dignity. We receive no ongoing government or state funding and rely entirely on the generosity of our community to continue our mission. If you would like to support us through donations or volunteering, please reach outβ€”we would love to partner with you to make a difference.

Welcome back for HEARTS BEHIND THE HAVEN!

Through these posts, you'll meet the volunteer Board members who are behind-the-scenes of the Haven's Community Drive-Thru Dinners, special events, and many of the daily operations. With the support of our community, the mission of St. James Haven is not only possible, it's happening.

πŸ‘‰This week we'll meet Marie Scwartz. Marie leads with a servant heart - always willing to lend a hand with a smile. She often offers quiet among the chaos and faces each new task with a 'give it a try' attitude. Thank you for all you do, Marie!

Please join us in saying hello to Marie below.

Marie has been a resident of Crawford County since 1977 – as a student, a parent, and now a retiree. She and her husband raised three children and have enjoyed watching them grow up in the Meadville community.

Over the years, she has volunteered with various organizations. Marie worked in the social services field for 25 years, teaching Adult Basic Education (ABE) and serving as the coordinator of foster care and adoption services at a local nonprofit.

Since retiring, Maries has volunteered at the local food pantry and now very excited to serve on the board of St. James Haven, Inc. She believes the Haven’s mission is a valuable asset to Meadville and plays a vital role in supporting men within our community who are working towards improving their lives.

The Financial Care Partners team continues to be a wonderful community partner. From serving meals to serving the Haven's board, this crew always brings a "how can we help?" attitude. Thanks for all you do, FCP!

Thanks to a generous Crawford Gives donor, the match pool continues to grow! That means your donation dollars can make an even BIGGER impact for St. James Haven!

Asking yourself, "match pool, what's that?" The match pool is a pro-rated fund, meaning each participating non-profit organization will receive additional dollars based on their direct donation total. When you donate today, your dollars will go even further!

We are so deeply appreciative of our community's support. Let's finish Crawford Gives out strong!
